Michael, yes I have seen the movie. Great show and excited to see the musical version! No, I have not seen the pit and would welcome the opportunity.

Guys, I mentioned in a PM to Michael and would like to guage the interest here. What if we plan a GTG on the same day, before Michael's performance, then we could possibly attend as a group. My church in Motown is adjacent to the WSCC campus where I assume the play will be, in the theatre there. Which date would be best? I assume the times are 7 on Friday and Saturday and 2 on Sunday? If so, we could plan a GTG on either Saturday starting at 2 and have time to spend together before heading to the show. Comments?

I don't know the performance times yet, but they will be listed on the Encore website after they complete the current production there. I'm guessing the standard 2 PM matinees once per weekend, and then 8 PM evenings.

I wish we had a Pal's in Knoxville!! All we have are lousy Sonics. Pal's are sooo good.

How funny! I'm playing a show in Morristown and it's becoming a family reunion as it were, and even with Pal's? You guys are all amazing. Let's do have some ETTB fun in Feb/March. Lord knows we need it during ET winters.. We will have a great time! Richard, thank you so much for getting this going.

Yes, he is very good. I have two little projects in line now for him. I saw the progress on your Wishbass last time I visited Paul. It is very nice indeed, and will be unbelievable when finished but it still won't be ORANGE. :smug:

TN state law prohibits more than one orange Hyper five string fretless Wishbass east of Knox County. You, my friend, have filled the regulation ;)

Guys, I've had a tough month.
My band broke up, been playing with the same 2 guys for pretty much 8 years. My brother is the drummer, the best drummer I've ever had the pleasure to play with, that's not sibling talk. He would likely say I'm in the bottom third of the best bass players he's played with, but I digress......

Really bummed about the experience. I find myself with too many stadium rigs, practice rigs, basses galore, and.....no work.

I'm still playing at church, but I want to get back on weekend warrior status soon. I feel like a long loving marriage busted up, and now I'm faced with the prospect of dating again, and I really don't have a clue. I don't want to pimp myself out on FB or CL, there are a few guys calling who have heard what happened, but I don't want to jump into something that isn't rewarding musically.

Any advice? Any leads? I'm patient, I'll wait on the right situation, but don't want to miss out on the right situation either.

Jeff - Sorry for your pain, brother. It is sometimes difficult for me to look at the amount of money I have tied up in gear for playing 6-8 gigs per year. I own the trailer, PA, four bass amps, 8 basses, two guitars and a ukelele. I also play in church and that is my main focus. Band stuff is just gravy. I am using my gift to honor Him. I consider myself very fortunate to own the gear I do and I own it, not so I can justify playing in bands, but because I can afford it and it makes me happy. If playing in a band makes you happy, do whatever is necessary to make it happen. Don't discount CL though. I found my lead guitarist through a CL ad and we have been playing together for over 15 years now. Also, since you enjoy playing with the two guys you have been, is there any chance at resolving any issues? You may be the impetus to make it happen. Just a thought.

Hello folks,,, Hope all is well with everyone.
Does anyone in this thread have an EHX PitchFork they use on bass for drop tuning?
I have one that I used for guitar stuff in my studio and thought I would use it on bass so I wouldn't have to have 3 basses on stage and after I tried it out for the first time I found mine is almost completely un-useable as a drop tuning tool.
It has a chorusing/doubling effect with the blend completely on the wet side almost like the dry signal is bleeding in but not quite the dry signal. The wet signal is also way boomier than my dry signal so it comes out well colored.
If anyone has a PitchFork they can check or have experience with any drop tuning pedals that can be used with bass please let me know.

I almost bought one of these for a current project, I was steered away from it without trying it. If you have a bass you can leave in downtune for the practice or gigs, that's the best use of your tools on hand. If you are limited to one bass, one set up, this was going to be a further exploration for me, but I can't advise, sorry.

We are currently in rehearsals for [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] at Encore Theatrical Company in Morristown, and it's going well! We have a cast of about twenty. Our show band is violin, viola, cello, baby grand piano, guitar/mandolin, bass and drums. It's a truly outstanding score, pretty much perfectly conceived for the emotive, amazing, romantic moments of time Robert James Waller storyline, by composer Jason Robert Brown. Here's the Wikipedia article about the musical.

I'll be using my fretted blonde and fretless sunburst Douglas violin basses, Quilter Bass Block amp, and one Acme B-1 cabinet for the show. I may run a couple other basses in if the day, and the mood, strike.

I did want to give the performance dates, if ETTB'ers are interested in a GTG in Morristown, per Richard's original idea from January. If we don't come up with a GTG, I do want to invite all of you to grab your current significant other and come see a tremendous theatre production. This is my first Encore show and I am very impressed!

Friday, March 3, 8 pm
Saturday, March 4, 8 pm
Sunday, March 5, 2 pm
Friday, March 10, 8 pm
Saturday, March 11, 2 pm and 8 pm
Sunday, March 12, 2 pm

I would probably prefer not to do a GTG on Sunday, March 12 since we're closing the show that day and striking the stage. Let's see what everyone wants to do if this idea is still alive.

Jeff- hate to hear your long-standing trio is no more. My thoughts are with you, and I hope you find your next music project, outside of church, soon. You are very blessed to have the opportunity at church that you do, and I know you bring a lot to your worship there.

Rock bands, or the venues for them, no longer grow on trees, as they did in the 80's and 90's. I was talking with our guitarist and drummer for the Encore show. Both of them are in their 50's, did a lot of club playing back in the 80's, and remarked how every hotel, restaurant and bar had live music - meaning real bands - back then. "Not no mo" for sure.

I would love to get out and gig with a live rock band again in a club. I'm glad you've had the opportunity to do so for the length of time you have. You'll be back out there again!
