If the music for "Bridges" is anything like Jason Robert Brown's "13" I'm super jealous. Almost had a chance to play that one, and there are a couple of songs--music AND lyrics--that are gold for the actors and pit. :bassist:

I'm going to have to make time to come see this. Additionally, I worked with Drew in Jonesborough Rep's 1940's USO show. He's not just a ridiculously solid actor and singer--had ALL of the ladies in the audience, and not just a few of the rest of us teary-eyed with his show-closer, "I'll Be Seeing You"--he's a super nice guy.

Looks like the best time would be Saturday the 11th in the afternoon. We could schedule the GTG for 4 pm and plan to attend the 8 pm show. I will be out of town 2/22-3/8, so would not be able to attend before the 10th. Let me know if this date works for everyone. If so, I will book the room at our church. You can literally see the church I attend, and where the GTG would be, from the parking lot of the theater Michael is performing in.

Thanks, Jeff E! The only other JRB musical I'm familiar with is The Last Five Years, which I played back in 2011, and I can hear JRB's influences and style in both, but man, he pulled out the stops for Bridges. It is a very emotional show, and the music is top notch. True story: Several of the cast members were crying yesterday afternoon after we did the finale with Francesca.

Drew is seriously talented, I agree. He's playing Robert Kincaid opposite a very lovely Francesca Johnson, played by Paige Munroe-Mattocks.

Jeff, do come to a performance, you'll enjoy it immensely. It will be good to meet you. I hope that you have the opportunity to play the show in the future!

Sounds like good prelim plans, Richard. I did see Trinity UMC yesterday on the drive in on Walters State CC Drive. Doing the GTG on March 11 would be fine, but it will be a busy day for me since we have the afternoon matinee. I can drop in for an hour or so, but probably won't have enough time to bring any gear in. Well, I think Jeff had mentioned the Quilter a while back, so I might disconnect it and bring it over. I'm sure there will be a few cabs available!

Hey, I've had my first Pals now.. ordered a Big Pal and Frenchy Fries. Yum! Excellent burger, and it was only about $5.25 total. Can't beat it! I was thinking I'd sample some of the other sandwiches on the menu, but I may get stuck on that burger. Man!

Our drummer, Steve, said he sat in with the Lost Creek Shakers a while back, so you two know each other. Steve has been in Mo-town about ten years, and has played a lot of the Encore productions. He's definitely one of the best show drummers I've worked with, and I say that after just three rehearsals.

Uh oh. He didn't complain about the Shakers lousy bass player, did he?

Yes, the church is Trinity United Methodist Church, 425 Wilder Street, Morristown, TN. GTG would be in the church's multi-purpose room (basically a Gym with some acoustic panels). The parking lot you can see from WSCC is at the back of the church and the doors are to the multi-purpose room we would be using.

As to Pal's - stick with the Big Pal and frenchy fries. Anything else on the menu will pale in comparison. I've tried other menu items and always ended up disappointed thinking, "Man, I could be eating a Big Pal burger instead of this".

Good seats, Richard! Was there still a pretty good selection when you were looking earlier?

There is such a great buzz about this show- the cast and musicians are so excited to be doing it, and you can feel it in the air. It's very different than going into a traditional show like Sound of Music or Cinderella. Those are terrific old shows, but they've been done thousands of time. Bridges is a somewhat new show still, on Broadway in 2014, and very contemporary. This is the first time it's been performed in east Tennessee. I am honored and grateful to be a part of the production.

Great selection for the 11th. I'm sure that will change as the earlier shows begin to sell out. Better get in and get your tix now guys!

Oh, and BTW, I called the church and reserved the room for the 11th.

And tell Steve I said Hello. If he is the one that played the Rogersville cruise in with the Shakers, I agree. He is a heck of a drummer. We were actually auditioning drummers at the time, IIRC, and had already offered the gig when he auditioned. The drummer we offered had accepted (and is still with us), but had a prior commitment for the date and Steve graciously agreed to play the gig with us. He was good enough that it made us question our decision at the time, but Shane has worked out well for us. Not often that you find TWO drummers that knock your socks off. It'll be good to see him again. Invite him to the GTG with you, if you will.

Was out earlier today and listened to the soundtrack in the car, as I do often these days, and it really got to me. I've listened to so much music in my almost 60 years, and have played nearly 100 musical productions, but the lyrics and composition for this show stand out to me. There's no doubt that most all of you will enjoy it, especially those of you who read the Waller book and saw the Eastwood/Streep movie back in the 90's. It's a soundtrack that's worth picking up for your music libraries.

Jeff, it will be so good to see you and Laurel again. Thank you for coming all the way from Maryville to GTG and see the performance. I am humbled by your support. I fondly remember meeting you two at Annie Get Your Gun at the Clayton Center in 2010. Has it been that long already?

I love this show, guys. This is going to be an outstanding day, and I truly appreciate the support that my ETTB friends are giving me.

Hello all,,, I know this is short notice but is there anyone in the Morristown area that can host a quick amp plug in to test on a swap tomorrow around noon?? (Thur 3/2),,, I dont think it would take more than maybe 15 minutes tops,,,, Or a locale that you may know that would sympathetic to that if we give them a tip etc??

Gear for sale! Thanks for the reminder, Jeff. No PA speakers here, but I have a few sets of strings (steinberger double-ball, d'addario acoustic bass phosphor bronze, La Bella deep talkin' tapes) and an old, dusty, Fender Blues Jr. guitar amp I can bring if anyone is interested. Prices will be rock bottom on all.

Just got my tickets for Friday night! Can't talk the SO into hanging for Saturday's GTG, so I'm taking her to see Bridges Friday night and planning to come back to town for the GTG Saturday.
