Abingdon is close enough! You would be welcome at our GTG and don't forget to pick up tix for The Bridges of Madison County available online (Google "Encore Theatrical Morristown" for their website). Several of us are attending after the GTG to listen to one of our own MichaelVee. Directions to the GTG below:
From the East: Take I81 South to Exit 8. Turn right to go North on 25E to the exit for Morris Blvd.(first exit past Walmart). Left onto Morris Blvd. then left onto Wilder St (beside Krystal). The church is at the top of the hill on the left.
From the West: take I40 East to I81 North to exit 8. Turn right onto Hwy 25E North. Go to the exit for Morris Blvd.(first exit past Walmart). Left onto Morris Blvd. then left onto Wilder St (beside Krystal). The church is at the top of the hill on the left.

Disappointed I will be out of town and wont make this GTG. We always have a great time. I will miss the chance of hanging out and hearing Michael play as well. Hopefully I can get to the next one!!!!
We finished the first weekend of the show today. I got home around 6 PM. It's been quite a long and intense week, but a very good one. I was very impressed by the company's performances.
It'll be good to have some down time this week. It was a two plus hour round trip last week, from Knoxville to Morristown. About seven hours committed each night. I have not been getting to sleep until 1 or 2 AM this week. I call it "Show Lag". I'm hanging out tonight and unwinding.

Here's Trinity UMC on Google Maps. I tried doing directions from TUMC to Inman, but Google messed it up. GPS's have a hard time giving directions to Inman, or can't, so the good thing might be to follow Richard over. The Walters State CC Drive interchange with Davy Crockett Parkway (US 25E) is seriously screwy! But if you want to give directions a try, here's the map link for the theater.
Going to the theater: After you pass the traffic circle on Walters State CC Drive, the parking area is on the left side of the main campus drive, in front of and across the drive from the Inman theater. The lobby entrance is on the left side, down the sidewalk from the parking area. For reference, here is a screen capture from Google Maps. Inman is the all-brick, tall building at the center.

Bringing the Dingwall AB1 fiver for sure to show off Thumpin_P's handiwork, and the Dingwall NG2. Likely won't bring any of the Phil Jones amps unless someone really wants to see/try one.

Yes, Paul and I discussed in a PM that he would pick up the basses at the GTG, so I hope he is still planning to come. Hasn't chimed in here in a while.

I will probably make a Pal's run after I leave the matinee and get a Big Pal and Frenchy Fries, and bring it to the GTG. Anybody else going to Pal's before the show? Richard had been talking it up. There is a new Pal's right off Morris Boulevard very close to Wilder St., so it'd be a quick grab for any of you on the way to or from the GTG. Good stuff!!
Also, I wanted to invite those of you coming to the performance to come up on stage after it ends (there are steps at center stage) and meet and greet the show band.

Jeff, from the picture of the stage you took, it looks like your seat was over to the right a bit in the house. Isn't it a terrific show? I do hope you get to play it in the future.

Sorry for the late response! By now many of you have seen the show, so I won't be telling you anything you don't already know--the music was complex, and the synergy between the band and the singers was im-press-ive! Friday night was a great show; I've never seen an Encore production before, and I was blown away. The only critique I have was that I wanted to bring the band upstage so that I could watch them perform! But the true thing is that several times I actually forgot they were there, I got so caught up in the acting and singing. I don't think a pit can do better than that. You guys excelled at your job, @Michael Vee! Thanks for the heads up about this show.
Sorry I missed the GTG yesterday, guys. I was at the eye doctor Friday morning for a brand new allergic reaction I had to some cats Thursday night (not realizing what it was until I saw the doc and we discussed the issues I was having--"Chemosis," it's called, and you don't want it), and it started getting worse by intermission Friday night. I couldn't see out of my right eye by the time we got home. Put a huge damper on my weekend plans (which included installing a dishwasher; not happening). Hope it was great!
