Hi Barry, I had back surgery two days before Christmas, I've been staying low, not busy! Getting back up to speed the last few weeks, but trying to take it easy.

I do know moving forward I'll be trying to unload some heavy bass cabs and amps to some younger fellers.

I have a couple of light rigs that will do what I need with PA support, but I'm sure gonna miss the pants flapping days!

That sounded like a fun time!

It was, Michael! I grabbed the movie theme from Scribd or somewhere and the piano player and I worked half of it up with me bowing. It was a hit. Room full of party-goers in 1920's finery. We played a bunch of oldies - tea for two, etc, that came from that period.

There are pictures! Waiting for our singer to send me some good ones. I'll share.

I have to say that that giant Phil Jones rig you have moves more air than anything I've ever heard. It is a sensation unlike anything else.

For lighter weight stuff I still strongly recommend Audiokinesis cabs.

I've been busy recording - doing some parts remotely. I've attached one of those - a hard hitting rock instrumental. The guitarist is Jon Conley who normally plays with Kenny Chesney. Fortunately for me they're not touring now.

To scratch my musical itch that normally gets satiated by rehearsing and gigging, I've been building basses, and doing work on friends' bass guitars. Yesterday, I finished a level/crown/polish and setup on a mail order Ric copy kit bass. It cost my friend <$200 and it now has closer buzz-free action (with almost no relief) than my best basses. Granted... I haven't felt the need to file the nut slots as low as I could on my primary players.

And, after 30 years of thinking that I hate P basses and flat wound strings, I put together a P that changed my mind. Then I bought the MIJ 58 that is in my avatar pic, loaded with Sadowsky blue label flats, and my quest to explore all the different flats started. I've spent a small fortune on different flatwound sets from LaBella, DR, Sadowsky, D'Addario, GHS, and TI. And, I'm currently trying them out on various basses.

If anyone wants a great amp, I have 3 that I will sell for less than $600 each. I also need to let go of some 80s Peavey basses. Message me for details, if interested.

So far, some flats are very thumpy and sound like there’s foam at the bridge, and some don’t even sound like flats at all. Some are super slippery like silk and some are much rougher while still being smooth in comparison to steel rounds, of course. Some flat sets are tight and some feel nice and supple. More info to come...

"In the midst".......

Worship has been a different experience.....we are livecasting on FB and YT but it sure feels lonely without the body there. Easter is my favorite Sunday of the year and it was heartbreakingly quiet!

In good news, my work is considered "essential", so no shutdown. They were encouraging us (staff) to work from home, but the folks who work on the floor don't have that option. I'm coming in out of solidarity to them.

Anybody on here need anything? (besides gigs)

Love me some TI flats. I’m also a fan of D’Addario tapewounds that are on my Wishbass. The rest all have my standard DR Low Rider Nickels on them so I’m not currently using any TIs, but I have in the past.

I have yet to put them on a bass. They're my first set of TI strings. So far though, I'm loving the feel of the low tension LaBella set. I still need to order the set of Gold LaBellas too.
