East Tennessee Talkbass

Guys, these Eagle Rock campers are kids from a church in Ohio and a church in Florida. They rock out to (I don't know what to call it, screamo worship?)

My Fender 300 PRO is normally set to "3" at outdoors marina gigs. This week, it's been at "6" on both input channels and the master volume! My tinnitus is flaring as I type this. They wanted me louder, but I shook my head.

Jody, I have a couple of suggestions for hand carts. I've bought this one twice and let the bands keep them when I left. Big air filled tires, so it's good on gravel.

This one is a keeper, it doesn't do very hot on gravel, but it's perfect for marina gigs, very versatile and built like a tank.

The one at Home Depot is like the 2nd one except it has a flip down U-shaped bar that you can put under larger items, so they don’t try to topple off when you tilt the dolly back.

Great bunch of young people very focused on Christ! Glad and honored to be the old tie-die guy in the bunch!

Love that picture, Jeff. I would also love to be a part of an experience like that. I'm enjoying playing at church, but it's older people and not anything like what you do at Eagle Rock. I miss that. It's great that you are out there at your age (I can say that!) and able to hang out with these young people and encourage them with your playing and presence!

Who are the other musicians who play there with you? You've not talked much about them. Are they part of the campers crowd?

There are actually TWO youth groups that do this every year, one from Ohio and the other from Florida. I haven't gotten the entire connection, but they do this event together every year. The music leadership is a mix of both churches. It was very good this year, the leader was on lead guitar and I had worked with him in the past. There were two guys missing this year from the FL group who just didn't make the trip. One of the missing guys is a drummer around my age (within 10 or 12 years lol) that I really connected with personally and musically. It's not often you find a REALLY good drummer in the wild, and he is.

The red headed kid was on drums this year. He is pretty good to be so young, very good timing but boy he likes to hit them. The second night there he switched over to dowels because the first night was so deafening.

I had a really bad scare the week before the event when I learned my employer had signed me up for mandatory training at UT that could have been a conflict. Had I not been able to make it, this thread was the first thing I thought of to find someone to sub, but happily there was no conflict!

I may have said it somewhere before, but these guys found me through CL. I answered the ad 3 years ago and have been connected ever since.

So, CL is not a complete waste of time, I've made some valuable connections there over the years!

Nice pic JJ ! Still love the new bass? Very unique !
YES!! I have an embarrassingly large collection of basses, probably 30, and this one is still my favorite sounding one. And then there’s the fact that it weighs nothing.

I keep putting off “The Great Purge” but it has to happen soon! I have way too many 4 strings that I know I’ll never get around to gigging. If I don’t gig them, they should be sold, IMO.

Great logic, but I know it will still be hard to thin the heard, but on the other hand, that would give you funds for another custom dream bass!
