En route. Be there around 2:15 w/ way more gear than I expected to stuff in my pickup. Hope it doesn't rain!
I hope someone will post on how it went - more of a swap meet, a socializing thing, or could you actually hear gear in a critical listening environment? I'm guessing mostly the first two since if you have multiple bass players playing at the same time makes it hard to listen critically - you get that music store effect. But sometimes it can work to a degree.

As one of the instigators of the GTG, I hated to miss it. I have felt very much under the weather the last four days, and this morning told me I needed to stay in. And I certainly don't want to share this cold with anyone else.
It figures that after all this time talking about the GTG, I wouldn't be able to go, and my gosh, of all things, because of a stupid dang cold. This time of year, as beautiful a day as it has been.
I'm pretty down about it, and I do look forward to hearing and seeing more about the GTG, and what all happened.
We should try to get another GTG up early this summer, because there were easily 3/4 of us here on the ET TB thread that weren't able to make it today. A lot of you have already posted your regrets, and your keen interest in the next one.
I'm so glad that Bill (projectapollo) and Larry (ldervish) both found out about the GTG. I've done gear deals with, and have met both in person, great guys, and it would have been good to have seen you again today.
Jeff, my thanks for doing the legwork to make it happen today, and I'm so sorry I wasn't able to be there, brother.

The GTG was a blast! I was shocked at the turnout, I thought if 3 or 4 people showed up it would be well worth it, but 15 or more showed up! I wish I had gotten a count on the number of basses, there was an impressive variety!

JJ and I thought the end of the summer would be a good time to schedule the next one. As this one had little or no planning, I think I can be more prepared next time, and the turnout will be even bigger!

WOW! Sensory overload pretty much sums it up. Got to play some GREAT basses today at the ETTB GTG. Don't want to leave anyone out, but most memorable were (in no particular order) - FunkGenerator's Nordy 5, Rollerberg's Dingwall 5, JEDI's gorgeous Lakland 5 (the one Jeff is going to copy in a chambered body, sorry Jody) and so many more. On top of that, now I have GAS for the first time in a couple of years, and for an unlined fretless!
It was such an honor to meet each of you and to be exposed to the talent and camaraderie, in addition to the wonderful variety of basses and rigs on hand. I feel very fortunate and blessed to have had the priviledge to meet everyone there. Count me in for the next one!

Everybody there was "cool as a moose in wintertime"! Very nice and friendly bunch of guys.
There were approx 15 bassists, 5 bass rigs, and approx 30 basses. HEAVEN!
The basses ranged from the most traditional vintage to the most fanciest, hi-$,
"bo-teeek" stuff I have ever/never seen. I didnt get to play half of them but the ones I did were awesone: Funkgenerators Nordy and Electra (that thang was badass), Apollo's Lakland P/J........it was my fave I think. I even played a Dingwall with fanned frets backwards/upside down...didnt cause too much of a problem really, actually made chording easier.
The amps were awesome: Rollerberg's PhilJones rig, Oldschool's Genz rig and that KILLER Eden preamp pedal, Jedi's Berg cab, a code911's Markbass LMII that rocked my world.............I cant remeber all of them. Most of the amps I had never seen in the flesh before so I spent most of my time doing an amp shoot-out.
I wish I could have played every bass there (especially Jedi's chi-sonic loaded basses)
but there just wasnt time.
But really at the end of the day it was the people that made it great. Truly!
My wife came with me, along with the piano player/singer in my band and
her daughter...they loved it...they said they loved watching us guys run around like kids in a toy store.
Next time it needs to last twice as long and be twice as big. And why wait a year? why not in 6 months? 3 months? NEXT WEEK?

And i picked up a rare Ampeg classic preamp that ive been searching for. Next time we should organize some gear shootouts. Side by side comparisons. Im ready any time.

I'd love to bring another handful of my bass collection... maybe my 3 fretless basses, some more Laklands that stayed home today, and my crazy pedalboard and the other loose pedals that need a home.
I'd also like to bring my nicer amps, preamps, poweramps etc and my other cabs too.
I have more sell-able gear than guitar center (sorta joking) and I need to make room at the house by moving it out

Everybody was a pleasure to meet and talk with, the rigs were crazy nice! The Fenders (old and new) were SWEET, as was Jeff's crazy collection (his 1 Dingwall is worth more than my 2 vehicles!). The black p/j Lakland----SICK! Neal's Nordy w/ crazy low action!! Tom's collection of mod'd up war horses all strung upside down and played backwards---- so fun to watch him play them!

There was some great stuff there. Clearly broader range of instruments than most of our stores carry.
Here is another vote for a second GTG in the next 3-6 months.
Even though I wasn't there, I want to thank those that brought their children (aka favorite basses) with them to openly share. That was a lot of money up on the stage. Hopefully, everyone got them home with no new nicks, cuts, scrapes, or bruises.
