Don't want to leave anyone out, but most memorable were (in no particular order) - FunkGenerator's Nordy 5, Rollerberg's Dingwall 5, JEDI's gorgeous Lakland 5 (the one Jeff is going to copy in a chambered body, sorry Jody) and so many more. On top of that, now I have GAS for the first time in a couple of years, and for an unlined fretless!

It was such an honor to meet each of you and to be exposed to the talent and camaraderie, in addition to the wonderful variety of basses and rigs on hand. I feel very fortunate and blessed to have had the priviledge to meet everyone there. Count me in for the next one!

I just have to say, for the record, iamoldschool noodled around on the fretless Wishbass for long enough that I was impressed enough with his intuitive intonation I might just give it up!

I played fretless at church for about five years solid, became very comfortable with it, and then laid it down. Maybe this will inspire me to pick it back up!

The black p/j Lakland----SICK! Neal's Nordy w/ crazy low action!! Tom's collection of mod'd up war horses all strung upside down and played backwards---- so fun to watch him play them!

Looking at the pix makes me realize just how cool this event was. There was A LOT OF SERIOUS EQUIPMENT in the room.

Wasnt it great to just pick up any bass, plug into any amp, and play at serious volume without some 20yr old guitar center goober standing over you telling you your too loud, or "are you gonna buy that bass?"

HAHAHA!!!!!!!!

Regarding somebodys Q's a few pages back about volume: I know that i cranked several amps to serious volume. I dont think anybody minded because other ppl were doing the same thing at the same time. Believe me, when your standing 5ft away from that cranked PhilJones rig, you dont hear nothin but PhilJones! Or TC, or GB, or what ever you are standing in front of...heck, when I walked in the door at 2:00, amps were already being cranked.

Jedi, I love your term "war horses". Thats exactly what they are.

Just think about it: we spent 3 hours in the ultimate music store.

My only suggestion is to maybe have some tables for ppl to lay out their hardware/pups/junk for sale. Its one thing to talk about it, its another to see it and hold it.

I think this is a great suggestion for the next one. Again, PLANNING would help! I hope to see more bartering, trading and selling. With preparation and organization it can be done much better!

Jeff, you are way too kind. I'm just a pocket player, no technical stuff. I even make up most of my own basslines on covers that I find too tedious to learn note for note. When the fun stops, I lose interest. That being said, I really liked the sound of the fretless Wishbass I played. It is definitely on my must-have list. If you'd be willing to part with yours, PM me a price.

Pretty sure I want to keep that one, I have big plans to refinish and plug some nice electronics on it one day. If you are interested, I will be watching out for a good deal for you, they come up quite often. If you prefer, you can spec one out by contacting the man himself, PM me if you're interested, I have some tips to pass along to deal with a cantankorous builder:D

I wasn't sure if that was in fact the Lavender on your bass. I really like the color.

I thought about attempting some type of design but with all that PG on the Jazz, it makes it difficult to let a design breathe, for lack of a better term. I even considered leaving the PG off but I am not a big fan of the control plate island look. Decided to stick with the single color. Now, if you're feeling creative, I am open to suggestions.

I did tell Marty that he was remommended by the owner of the EBMM sparkle swirl bass in Gallery 3.

As for suggestions, check out RealGoldInc dot com. The guy makes sparkly pickguards out of precious metals for a very nice price IMO. My 'Ray has one made w/ real silver. My Lakland 44-02 has one using a different technique.

Yes sir, that is in fact a left handed Fender USA. I stumbled across it while Googling Fender Jazz' with sparkles. I believe that it belongs to a guitar player's wife.
I am certain that I could find out more about it, but it would only make you bitter as the bass is not for sale. :D

I am a lefty that had to learn to play right handed. It's hard enough to find basses that speak to our souls as it is. I can't imagine chasing lefties.

I have to agree. As I was doing my research , I got stuck between this and one done in Seafoam Sparkle. This thing just looks so clean, that I had to have one like it.

Good people borrow ideas. Great people steal them !
