Wish I was a UT fan, or a sports fan, period LOL. Of course, the audience would appreciate the bass and maybe tip more, right?

I am seriously considering sending them my P as it is in that flat black nitro and I am not a huge fan of black either.
I played it at an audition the other night and it sounded so good in the mix (the bass, not me ! rofl) that I am afraid to mess with it. I have a mint PG and set of brand spankin new OPB 4's from Aguilar and I'm 'skeered' to even touch it with a screwdriver!
I am not a huge college sports fan either, but the UT bass would go over big........unless you were gigging in Alabama or Georgia, then it would be more of a Blues Brothers kind of the thing when loading out.
I got an email last night from a long time band here in the Tri-Cities area that just lost their bass player. These are all mature players (late 40's, 50's, some retired.) I can't help as I am tied up helping some friends work on some orginal stuff.
True variety band with massive song list. They mostly play 50's-through 80's stuff. From what I know, they gig 6-10 times per year, and usually do money gigs i.e. festivals, conventions, weddings, country clubs, etc
I don't know them very well but have chatted with one of the band members a couple of times during the last few months and he seems to be a true gentleman.

Nobody ever believes me, but the paint on the truck actually had nothing to do with the Vols. It's all about how the two colors compliment each other and how they pop. More a method of grabbing attention than any loyalties. When you put a lot of time and/or money into a project and you want people to notice, color selection can help get it noticed. I finally installed the Aguilars today and they sound incredible. I am still considering yanking the grease bucket, but the warmth from the pick ups is awesome. Either that or the mint PG added a certain cool factor which now makes the P sound even better !
I am not sure I am buying the whole nitro thing that Fender is peddling currently. Why you might ask? While I can't speak for the application process from the 50s and 60's, I did read that Fender is using a Poly filler under the nitro. It seems to me that would render the Nitro on top moot. Although in the end, that's a thinner finish than running poly/poly. Where is Leo when you need him to answer questions ?

If Fender is priming w/ a thin filler layer of poly then YES that may alter the "nitro sound" a bit. Hmm... another good question for Marty, he does nitro also iirc.
