East Tennessee Talkbass

So true. I'll be happy to talk some smack.

Dropped off the Statatory Grape Franken Jazz this morning with John Pytel. He said he should have it put together and dialed in by Monday. I am like a kid at Christmas!

Also, just got my shipping verification on my brand spankin' new Hartke Kilo 1000. I should be able to peel paint AND kill the grass with it.

New bass, new amp head. Sweet !

I'm sweating bullets. Have to head back down tonight to drop off two tuner bushings.

John is a nice guy. He seems to know his stuff. I told him to take his time and for Pete's sake, shield the crap out of the thing. I sure do miss the Jazz sound but not single coil buzz under lights. Not sure how much hum/buzz is generated by Custom Shop '62 Jazz pick-ups.

Seriously considering adding an active 5 string Jazz for the sweet sound of silence.

I've heard shielding can kill that tone bro.

Let me know if the shielding works for you though.

Well that's clearly the crappy news of the day !

Well, I won't know for a week or two then. If I don't like the Custom Shops, I will fling them and go with Lindys or the Nords. If they sound bad, then we will know for sure that shielding is a problem.

I foresee lost sleep. I thank you for that ! :D

Sure thing jj. And I'm so stoked! If I make some money soon ill order one :)

Get that Benavente in yet? Not much new here. Picked up a set of Chauvet LED stage banks to add to the show. Those things are bright! Also patiently awaiting delivery of my Wishbass Hipper Fretless 5. Enduring some band drama the will likely end up with some personnel changes. I hate drama...

Drama seems to be the silent unseen member in the band until it crops up:scowl:

Sorry you're going through it, hopefully it will lead to better things (musician's);)

Back from my tb break :) so who's excited about the new affordable ac basses. I'll be waiting when they start popping up used.

You may just want to pony up and wait. Jimmy is still hand building all of these as understand it. First one was just delivered recently I think. Someone posted that build time was 11 months. Unless he plans to outsource some of the work (like he does paint), I am unsure that any type of used market will even develop. I guess that any that show up for sale used will allow someone to avoid the wait, but I suspect that they will all but be able to get what they orginally paid.

I have never played one of these basses but any Youtube video of them is porn in my house. To my ears, AC sounds more like vintage Fender than any of the AVRI's or custom shop stuff.

Maybe we should all get together and kidnap Jimmy. We can lock him in his shop and only let him out when we all have one of his basses.

Who's with me?
