East Tennessee Talkbass

Gig updates are always good! Interesting that Kudzu is playing at two different SMB locations in succession. I was wondering if the SMB in Turkey Creek in Knoxville has live music also. I've never seen anyone here in the ETTB thread talking about a gig there.

Jeff has become the Super Sub! :)

Have Dingwall, will travel!

I have a gig this Thursday night at Pres Pub on Market Square. Come out and show some love!

Also, I may or may not be quitting my current group. If any of you guys are aware of any local bands in need of a bassist then feel free to drop me a line :) Or if you know anyone who'd be interested in getting a 90's cover band started to make some money then drop me a line, too :D

Hey guys!!! I have some miscellaneous stuff I will be posting in the next few days. I would love to sell it local if possible. Shoot me a pm if interested in anything:

SX 6 string Jazz Bass
Sansamp BDDI Pedal
Miscellaneous Rack Drawers (different sizes)
Power Conditioners

Thanks!!!

The Gatlingburg show had been on our books for a while, I think the Maryville show was a fill-in for them on a band that cancelled. Not sure about the Turkey Creek SMB, have only seen acoustic guys there, but we are playing the Lenoir City SMB later in the year.

Just received a pic of my newly painted Jazz body sent from Marty Bell's. Shipping back to me today. Super folks to deal with and fantastic pricing.

For those that care, if you have that god-forsaken burnt wine nitro on a USA Highway One and the finish is complete, Marty said that they can use the poly filler coat undearneath it for good adhesion. This means that you don't need to lay out the extra cash to have the body totally stripped.

Pure funkalicious goodness !

I'll break out the big boy camera when it gets here.

Fantastic man! Marty rules! And his turnaround time is crazy good!

That looks great!

Sent my down payment on a Wishbass last Friday and got my TI Jazz Flats that I ordered for it in today. Anyone on here good at woodwork and finishing? I ordered it sans finish based on the recommendations of some of the fine folks over on the Wish thread.

I have a buddy that would fancy-up a Wishnevsky for you, but he still hasn't made the lid for the pedalboard we built together 3 yrs ago. So, he's obviously a busy dude.

I'm still undecided on the sparkle colorscheme for my mod'd CIJ Fender '51 P. I rehearsed w/ it the other day and MAN what an easy playing, comfy and wonderful sounding bass!!

Any ideas???

Here's a crappy cell phone pic.... she's school bus orange-ish in color actually :-(.

(I figured I better clarify who I was responding to.)

What kind of woods, and what kind of finish?

I redid a walnut bed with Antique Danish Oil that came out pretty well with a nice soft luster, but to be fair it's not something I do all the time.

Maple neck with 2 Persimmon and 1 Purpleheart stringers, Cypress body and Purpleheart FB. I also asked for a Soft V neck profile, which Steve said would be no problem. The Cypress should be a pretty light-colored wood with tight grain and little figuring. It should take a rubbed oil finish pretty nicely, I'm hoping. Shoot me a PM if you think you'd like to take it on. May also need the FB planed and some finish sanding done.

So is Wish gonna give you a Fender spec soft V or is it gonna be his typical super thick ball bat neck shaped in a V? Not bashing his work BTW, just saying....

There's a guy on TB that regularly "refines" Wishbasses with beautiful results! Maybe you should find him and ask for pointers?

It'll likely be the standard Wish variety with the soft V rather than the baseball bat barrell. I did ask for Fender string spacing and nut width, but we'll see.....

I think you are referring to Thunderritter, and yes, I may end up contacting him. OTOH, there are a ton of unemployed former furniture builders in Morristown. More likely, I will seek one of them out. Maybe try and keep it local. I also know a local luthier, but not sure he would be able to plane the FB. He's getting on in years.
