Mark's a great guy. He let me come hear his TC115 cabinet and I wound up buying one just like it.
Any you good people remember the late great Bad Weather Blues that played 100's of gigs here in Knoxville from 1993-2005 ... we are having a one night blowout reunion gig this coming Monday, July 1 at Preservation Pub. I believe we will have all previous members showing up including drummer Will, who lives in western Australia now and is flying 10,000 miles for this one (and to visit the USA for 3 weeks for the first time in more than a year ...)
I was the bass player for them from 1998-2003 and it's where my BWB handle on this website originates from ...

So I had to do some string shopping for Mark Robertson's 51 Kay that he was kind enough to lend to me.
I will never, EVER complain about electric string prices again.

They are pretty insane.
Check the DB forum side of TB, occasionally you can pick up slightly used sets cheap, I've even seen freebies if you pay shipping. The used string network over there is very important due to the dang expense.....
Btw, electric string prices and selection (IME) have gotten better since I started playing in '89. I remember paying around 35 bucks for a set of Billy Sheehan Rotosounds at Rob Paynes back in '90. Now there's plenty of better sets for much less money. Not to mention... $35 then is like $100 now!!

For what I wanted, choices started at 135.00 and went up to 275.00 for a set of four.
I am told that in the end, it is cheaper than slab basses because they can last for a couple of years.
I obviously started at 135.00. If they dont work for me, I'll dip in to my 401K and buy something else.
I do keep an eye on the DB forum as well as the UBPU on FB. My choice in strings seem to be popular and therefore rarely if ever show up for sale used.

I've been going on a bit of a spending spree over the past few weeks. I picked up a second Orange 115 for my big Rig. And a terror bass and Neo Hartke 112 for my portable rig.
I also got a Ernie ball Sterling (a real one) that if anyone is interested in I'm looking to flip it

Dude, you've got to bring your Orange rig to the next gtg - whenever that is. That's something you just don't see (or hear) very often in the stores.
Unless it's an outdoor show or something special I'll probably only bring one of the 15's.
Those cabs are kind of a pain to move around because of how deep and big they are.
The thing sounds like a bulletproof tiger though
Yeah, I love 15s! I'm still hooked on running two rigs even at small venues, so I have been trying to get used to the sound of 10s. Two 2x10s powered by their own lightweight amps is about as portable as I can stand to go :-/.
The Eden 210XLT is a wonderful beast of a cabinet. I've just sworn off heavy rigs and that one weighs about 75lbs. so it had to go. Happier now with the TC115 which is about 41 lbs and is my favorite sounding cabinet of all time.
I have 2 Ampeg Micro VR rigs. Cabs weigh 26 pounds and the heads can't weigh much.... maybe 7 pounds?? But I'll soon have a 2nd Ashdown all tube Little Bastard. These 30 watt amps are louder than the Ampeg 225 watt solid state amps but weigh much more of course. They sound better but don't fit very well on top of the small 2x10s. I've got to figure out a safer way to sit these LBs on those cabs. And aren't tube amps successive to vibration damage? Should I put foam under them?
