East Tennessee Talkbass

Here is what they look like.

I couldn't have cared less about tube vs SS.... for 20 years I was perfectly happy w/ SS. Then I fell in love with Shuttle 6.0s w/ tube preamps, then Eden WT800s... now I'm all about these bad little all tube wonders :-). I can actually hear a pronounced difference now when I compare SS against these.

Yeah, very true. Night and day.
I haven't played bass through a tube amp in many years, and I'm happy with ss for now. But I'd love to hear the newer tube amps as a possibility for recording. Don't think I'd lug one to a gig any more. Loud volume situations require such different tones than quiet ones that each has to be considered separately imho.

A couple of months back there a was a post about upright instructors for Knoxville area. I have had no luck identifying any in Bristol, Johnson Cy, or Kingsport.

I just need basics such as hand positioning, ergonomics, developing solid practice habits, etc. Leaning towards pizz and slap versus arco but basics are basics Heck, I'll grind arco exercises if it will help me get somewhere!

If anyone has any leads, be it formal teacher or even a vet who can teach me foundational stuff, please run me down!

Thanks in advance.

I have a couple of names for you I got from Rusty Holloway. He mentioned Michael Holstein, he was or is based out of Asheville, he said you can look him up on the internet and find him pretty easily.

The other name is Daniel Shiflett in Kingsport, I will PM his phone number.

So I have a few things that are up for sale/ trade in the classifieds. But because stuff gets pushed down so quickly, and I'd prefer not to ship the stuff, I figured I'd give you guys a heads up to them.

Hope all you fellas are doing great in Big Orange country. It's been a while since I posted on here. Work has taken me and my family to Southern Indiana just outside of Louisville, KY. I'm now rocking the Orange and White in hostile territory. Lol.
It's all good, though. Just thought I would drop in and say hi.

I will always consider myself an East Tennesseean. ;-)
