Is it a scale length thing, or the Novak frets?
And you know I'm giving you a hard time.
Rule number one for being a bass player. Find a bass you love and play the heck out of it ! Doesnt matter what it is as long as it speaks to your soul.

I've had 2 of the old afterburners, a 5 and a 6 string both in whalepool blue. One was rare in that it had a solid flame maple body instead of just the top... I think that was the 6er. Really should've kept the 6, even if I only recorded with it. :-(
Anyways, it was my 6'5" stature and ape arms. My plucking hand falls across a bass close to the bridge and the Dinger's slanted bridge put me plucking the high strings too close to the saddles. Move closer to the neck and the spacing and tension feel wrong. In the end, too old to adjust. Here's a pic:

That is the UGLIEST Dingwall that I have ever seen.........although it does remind me of a Marty Bell beautiful sparkle finish !
I get the ergonomics thing. If it's not comfortable for you, it just wont work !
Question for you guys.
So one of my bands Mass Driver (three piece fuzzed out original hard rock band) is always looking for new places to play.
We've played a few of the rock places around K town and we're interested in expanding a bit out side of town. What venues do you suggest I check out and are worth playing at.
Again we play original stuff and we are pretty loud.

I just got these 2 cabs, still new in their boxes, plus cash for a Lakland yesterday. They're AWESOME!
I was inspired to build two weeks ago...so, thanks to Zoomie for enabling my GAS with a donation of a wiring harness, and a little bit of shopping...

Little old man with a pickup....and heavy duty screw in casters lol. Trust me, I have a method.....
I think Amazon did have these for half price at one point. Either way, I was very happy to get them and some $$ for a bass that wasn't getting any playtime.
Great score on the Aggie cabs!! I have the same two myself. I guarantee they sound great with that Lakland; there is no way that rig wouldn't sound great!!!
I personally have never heard that Ashdown head, but I bet it sings with those cabs and that bass!! I have my cabs powered with the Aggie TH500 and a Warwick Streamer Stage 1 5 string right now. Best sounding rig I have ever owned for sure.
