Eastwood Classic

I had one.. Junk, total junk..
Poorly made, the trapez had been installed off centre so the bridge was being pulled off centre.. So the strings were falling off the board.
Neck pickup had been installed crooked the body of the pickup was jammed tight up against the cavity wall.
The bridge was split and falling apart.

Get the ibanez, it's worth the extra.

i own a Classic 4 .

the short scale was a little strange at first , but after a few minutes of playing ,
i felt perfectly comfortable with it ...
mine has the "upgraded " chrome bridge .
i recently removed the scratch plate , purely for cosmetics ...

plenty of old school tone available .
neck pickup position { my favorite } is thick and tubby , not unlike an upright , imo .
bridge pickup is a little too brittle sounding when used by itself ,
but really fills out the overall sound when blended with the neck pickup .
again , imo .

as far as construction , it seems to be fairly well made , no major complaints from me .

it's a keeper ...

I own the Classic IV in both orange and white. Put a good set up on it, I love it love it love it. Was in heavy rotation when I played retro-country. You have to know how to work with a semi-hollow and the rosewood floating bridge.

Re: the bridge, this model has come out with three different designs. It has had a metal TOM bridge, a hybrid TOM that was rosewood with the TOM studs, and a true floating rosewood. My least favorite was the all-metal TOM, it created a more crisp metallic tone, not what I was shooting for.

And the neck width at the nut has changed in various production runs over the years. It's currently 1.5" with the latest production run.

Inconsistency over the years is about the only thing bad I can say about this bass. Get specs, know what you're buying.

I can only speak about my experience. There was a "local" eastwood dealer (80 mi away) and I tried out and picked up an EEB-1 (Ampeg copy)... and was blown away by finish and quality of the instrument. I've looked at the Classic White, on line, but am thinking about getting a Gretsch now (I hate to buy anything online...burnt too many times).

I have the ibanez agb200 and I like the tone and it is well constructed but I am having trouble with playing comfortably in the lower range and dont like the width of the neck am thinking of getting the classic 4, does anyone have experience with both and is it still possible to get the neck that does not taper?

Email them and ask. When I bought my Classic 4 they were offering a few different versions, metal vs. wood bridge, etc. and the neck taper was different on each.
