EBMM StingRay Special Club

My 5HH special is like that too, A string not centered.
Didn't even notice til now. Is it something that should be corrected? my bass sounds and plays fine as it is.

I handled this by placing the bass down on a clean SOFT surface, loosening the strings till totally slack, flip the bass over and loosen ALL screws a few turns until the screw head is up above the level of the neck plate.

Pull the neck towards the upper horn until the gap between the body and neck is closed. (bass is still face down)
Tighten all the screws gradually, don't tighten just one screw at a time, make sure all the screws are getting equal "bite" and gradually tighten them all until all the screws only require a very small amount of rotation until fully tight.

Thank you! I will try that over the weekend.

So, I'm throwing this out there to see what might be available for trade. I just grabbed this Dropped Copper Special 4HH locally. Excellent bass, but in a perfect world I'd really like a different finish or with the H pickup only. Ideally both, but I'm flexible! I'd also trade my maple neck for your rosewood.

I figured it couldn't hurt to see if anyone would be interested!!

Finally took the plastic off my pickguard to make it official (vs returning to MF before 45 days expires). Tweaked the setup too and it’s playing much better with a new set of EB Slinky Cobalts that are breaking in nicely. G was quiet and dull but I brought it down a little and everything sounds great now. Starting to really bond with this bass.

I emailed EB customer services about something, in conversation they said they’d give me my bass date of birth, I thought why not?

My Special was completed on July 5th, I bought it on Sept 7th... at 2 months old it’s just like buying a puppy! ‘A Special is for life, not just for Xmas’ :)
Hey it might be fun to find out which one of us has the oldest one

Had it for a couple months now. Still in love with it. View attachment 3353758
I’m going on 7 months if I remember correctly. Don’t know exactly how long is considered a honey moon phase. All I know is that the more I play mine, the less I want to play my other basses. I still smile everytime I open the case and see it . Once it’s in my hands it’s a big grin after that first note. :D

Does it get any better than this ? I don’t think so.:smug::headphone:

By the way , this is the first completely active bass that I’ve ever played that I can get great passive tones from as well as great active tones. Still do t know how they did it, but I’m sure glad they did !!:bassist:

If you have your shipping case, the date is shown on it next to ROHS. However EBMM customer services will give the dates also.

My 4HH is 22nd May 2018 and my 5HH is 18th September 2018. As the basses weren't launched internationally until the beginning of September 2018, I couldn't collect my 4HH until then. The 5HH was delivered in November. They are generally exported in bulk consignments, so presumably the 5HH came as part of a shipment.

The plastic is off my black pg (courtesy Lowdownthump) on my 5HH also - and my 4HH. I am using the 5HH almost exclusively currently - it sounds so good - everything from 50s Rock and roll to 90s pop. And the black pg looks great - I kept the white switch tip on it. This photo was during the latter part of a two hour set - excuse the vertical hair and shirt half out..... best bass face on show - I was really getting into it!! The bass appears to be in gear 1 or maybe 2 - possibly playing Good Times.

And another. Such a great array of colours. Did anyone get a yellow one?
