The smoked chrome 5 H has such an incredible aesthetic. I don’t usually chase after basses for looks but it’s got such a great combination of features.

Hey everyone! Here's my latest video comparing the tones of the Stingray Special HH and the Sabre Classic. Enjoy!
love both. I have the same pink sparkle special, stunning bass, but the neck pickup on the Sabre to me sounds better across the spectrum. I’ve considered trading for the “Sledge” version of the Sabre.
I understand that EBMM offers shorter saddle screws to remedy this. Reach out to them.

I'd really love to see them with the original (G&L style) bridge - and I'm slightly surprised to hear myself saying this, but there's something to be said for the late-80's - early-90's Sabre, when they offered it with 3 band EQ.

I’m still gassing for a 5H in snowy night finish. I’m thinking that one should look pretty great under stage lights.
Nice I almost went with that. Such a great color! I kept going back and forth on different finishes, HH vs H, 4 or 5. I ultimately went with tectonic blue.
I want the Kingpin. It looks incredibly cool, like a James Bond bass.
Not sure if the colors will change. 21 brought new finished. They usually stay 3-4 yrs before they switch. BFR not included.
Does EBMM keep records of the body wood used for the specials? The one I bought listed select hardwoods. I dont care all that much, just wondering if it’s possible to find out.
Certificate with them doesn't mention anything. The EBMM website themselves goes to June 2019, which would highlight wood construction of the special, but could change as months go by. Only other thing could be looking it up on GCs website. The usually keep OOP guitars up on their website for reference.

Ahhh, ok. Wasn’t sure how it worked with them, if it was a yearly thing or whatever. I haven’t followed that closely until recently.
I don't know, they seem to be changing them more frequently than that lately. In mid 2020 they announced a new batch of colours like ghostwood, ghost pepper, firemist silver, maroon mist, etc. Then they discontinued them and had new colours by early 2021.

Anyone here have any experience with the Sterling by Music Man StingRay Short Scale? I really like the rotary option to do series/single coil/parallel, and I think it'd be a nice complement to my Special, so I'm in the opinion-gathering phase.

I have one in Daphne Blue. It's a pretty nice bass but it's no EB Musicman. The tuners are cheap and heads tend to wobble. I had to file down the frets which were rather sharp. Sound wise it's sounds veiled in parallel mode compared to both my EBMM Specials and also rather muddy. I do like playing it in sIngle coil it sounds different from any other bass I have. If I had to do it again and wanted a short scale I'd Iook for in a EBMM short scale. Hope they bring it back in some new colors.
