That’s a much easier solution than what I thought to do. I tried something similar, but took what turns out to be a more difficult path. I asked EBMM to change the StingRay 5 to the Stevorebob. Funny, they never got back to me on that.

That's awesome to hear! I'm super happy with his work. Do keep in mind that it is one guy doing them, pretty much one at a time. Last pickguard I ordered from him took a little while because he was so backed up. He is very quick to respond though (text message is what he prefers), and he can give you a timeline if you are getting antsy

Question for the group...I have a two good compressors, Diamond and Optocomp...but neither seems to like the higher output of my 18v Special. The Diamond really wont work with the Special and the Optocomp i have to have nearly all the way down and its to sensitive when adjusting. I mostly like very light compression, simple controls and maybe with a tad of additional warmth. What brands have yawl tried that work with higher output bass's and that are not a fortune
Late to the party but highly recommend Keeley Bassist. To be fair I’ve not tried an 18v Special through it, but my 2011 9v Alnico Ray fine, as are my Dimension and Ibby BTBs which are both 18v and (especially with the BTB’s Bart pre) able to give some SERIOUS EQ boost. They’re all 5 stringers. The Keeley seems to have endless headroom, the compression can be super-light through limiting, the led helps set threshold, the threshold knob is easy to use for dialling it in and there’s an output gain knob. Silent and tone neutral. The perfect always on comp for me anyway!

I use an Empress compressor (the older large blue version) and it has no issue with the high output of an active bass. It's a fantastic compressor if you are just looking for a nice transparent comp. I previously had an MXR (M-87 I believe, the white one) and it was not transparent as you could definitely hear a change in tone when it was clicked on, even at minimal compression.
My Special is not super high gain. With my usual setting with bass up 75% and mid and treble on 50% it’s about the same as my American Original P bass. Maybe slightly hotter but I use the same pedals etc without any problems.
Hey I am a pseudo new member to this group as my stingray special 5HH just came today. It was a scratch and dent with substantial ($1200) discount. Well, it was surely scratched and dented but otherwise brand new. Which was fine. Problem is the strings are misaligned, and a neck adjustment didn't do much, since the neck pocket is quite tight. Shoving the bridge saddles towards the B string helped some but now those are all skewed. And it's still not centered.
Planning on calling EBMM tomorrow to see if there's a remedy but don't have high hopes. This bass has been sold as new once, blemished twice, and now to me as scratch and dent. Since it was made in Nov. '21. So that's like 8 times it's been shipped. On top of that when it arrived, the bottom strap pin was poking out of the latched hard shell case.
Here are some pics of all the fun stuff.

I can see the G string is right on the edge, which has been a problem for some. A bridge with the sideways adjustment might help, but that would be a major change to the bass. Check with EBMM or maybe a good guitar tech could check it all out for your best option.
Pretty bass and that's a big discount ... but not big enough. I'd send it back.
My A string runs down the middle of the fret board dots. I would loosen the neck and try to move over a hair. I don’t have a problem with my g string on my MM 5.
I posted about a similar issue with my SRS 5 a few pages back. I was not able to resolve it with the method of loosening the neck and giving it a tug. I returned it and got another that is perfect. In my case, I think there was a slight alignment problem that was made worse by having fretboard edges that were heavily rolled with highly tapered fret ends. That was not the case on the second one I received. I do love this bass.
Thanks for the feedback, the thumbnail pic above is the alignment after whatever neck adjustment I could make and shifting the saddles over. I'll make a couple calls and see if it can get resolved otherwise I'll return it. Unfortunately can't easily replace, I'd have to pay a lot more.

I hope you find a resolution. Since these are known for not having much room on the G string, I'd be surprised if EBMM does anything for you unless there are places on the fretboard where the string lands on the fret bevel when depressed. Here are a few pictures similar to yours I've taken of my replacement to give you a point of reference.
It would be hard for you to get such a good deal again, but you could get close with a 15% discount on one of the pre 2021 models that still sale at the older price point. I got mine brand new at MF for about $1850. You'd have to pick a different color of course.
Thinking about putting DR Pure Blues on my 4H today. Never tried them. Coming from SS Lo Riders. Good idea?
I love them on my StingRay. They’re a hair warmer out of the gate, but they feel great, sound great, and last longer than most other string sets (similar to other DR strings).
How is the feel of the Pure Blues? Nickel Lo Riders are my favorite string overall, ESPECIALLY on my SR5, and I love the relatively stiff feel. For additional reference, I love the tone of Sunbeams and find them tonally similar to nickel Lo Riders. However, I don’t like their relatively loose feel.

They are a looser feeling string due to their round core. I prefer it to the stiffer feel of hex strings, but that’s just me.
I've used Nickel Low Riders on my 5ers for years. Really like em, last a long time, but on my 4H Sterling I picked up a set of Pure Blues and I like those as well. They aren't as aggressive especially in the high mids and are a tad warmer, but they still have that DR pop and punch. They do have a softer feel compared to the LRers though .The Sterling has the Ceramic Bucker and I imagine the Low Riders would get rather aggressive and I may try a set eventually but so far the Pure Blues are keepers.
