Put the Pure Blues on my 4H. I like the sound, but the feel is a little too loose for me. Will likely go back to Lo Riders or Fodera stainless steel strings.

I have a SR4H, SR4HH, SR4H fretless, SR5H. I also previously had another SR4HH and briefly had a SR4H passive BFR.

I have a Burnt Apple 4H with flats, a Cruz Teal 4H with rounds and an Amethyst Sparkle 4H with rounds. I got all of them used at good prices and in virtually unplayed condition. The teal one is by far the heaviest of the three. I like all of them, but especially the Amethyst, which is a feather.

I love my Pre EB Ray except for the weight.

I have a pre-Special 3 band 4H and a Special 5H. I like the pre-special considerably more with regards to tone. The Special is definitely a step up in terms of feel and appointments (stainless frets, 3D tuners, sculpted neck heel, 22nd fret, etc…), but I reach for the pre-S much more often.

I was all set to buy another Special 5H to compliment my Amethyst Sparkle. Went into Bass Central to get the Snowy White. Saw it hanging there but didn’t like the looks in person at all.
Picked up the Sandberg and was smitten.

Same thing happened with the Fuego BFR Fretless. Just didn’t like the finish in person so I wasn’t going to spend that much on that bass.

Then the new Sterling Ray 35 in blue sparkle was announced last week and I have one on preorder.
If I love it, it will stay .

Either way….. I’m holding out to see what the newest Sparkle finish will be from Ernie Ball on the Specials .

I prefer no Ebony or black hardware on my sparkle .

Im resisting the BFR pink Sparkle in the classifieds right now . It’s a 4 HH . I don’t play 4’s or like the HH . But that’s the only thing saving me .

I've never owned my own Stingray before my Special, but played many, including a friend's regularly. I like the Special more, just find the sound more versatile. It's easier to get a mellow tone with the Special if you want it. They both sound great though.

I really want another one too! But probably won't buy one as it's hard to justify financially currently. Maybe in the future...

I suspect that that's part rationalizing and also part rational. But I really like that idea!

For a few years I had two: 1) 4HH ebony board 2) 4HH maple board. One had rounds, the other flats. Notice I said, had.

A few months ago I sold one of the two in order to buy a new Rickenbacker 4003. While I LOVE the new 'Rays, having two didn't make a lot of sense for me. Now I have a wider range of sonic flavors to choose from-- which is better for me since I have limited funds for gear

Yes, I had an sr5 that was made around 2012 which I played for a few years but I sold it after I got my sr5 special.
