I have a set of Labella low tension flats that I cut and put on the 5HH but didn’t like. A $60 mistake. Does anyone want them for say $30? I used them for about an hour
I could be interested!

Not sure I can come up with a non-nefarious reason to scratch out a serial number. That would make me suspicious.
Yep, weird listing, well, it sold at equ 700 USD, probably a great player
I have an Ebony FB Special, and Sunbeams have always been my "go to" strings, but i did recently give Slinkys a try, as they are fairly affordable, widely available and well thought of here on TB. I generally liked the tone and feel, but for me they lacked the warmth or fullness of the Sunbeams. They are probably perfect for player who like a more edgy sound, pick players, etc. But I'm more of a finger funk type of player, and for me Sunbeams work really well on a Stingray....and also a P bassYeah they were a little bright for me and I like DR Hi Beams, which are bright. It was more I didn't like the timbre of the highs actually.
So far on my Special 5H I have tried-
Slinkys it came with- sounded great but die too quickly
Cobalt rounds- sounded very good but the highs had a quality that I just didn't like. I might try them again.
DR Sunbeams- Sounded great at first but wasn't a fan as they broke in more, mids weren't quite right.
DR Hi Beams- love them, a tad bright at first but break in and sound amazing for a long time
I still want to try DR Pure Blues on the 5H. I know others like them a lot on Stingrays
Hotter than a $2 pistol. Here is the seller picture, no certificate of authenticity, no hard case and the plate's serial scratched

Beauty!
What color is that and how much was it 6 months ago?
Seems like prices bump about $100 every 6 weeks on these basses.
According to this old add, they were not a sparkle finish but do not know for certain.Looks to be the Burnt Apple finish. Looks very nice, I never realized those ones had the sparkle finish going on.

Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay Special Bass Guitar - Burnt Apple with Maple Fingerboard
I'm looking at high end Fenders holding my EBMM and I'm really beginning to think that getting a Stingray Special was one of the best moves I could have made six months ago. Forgetting about the fact that it has the most beautiful finish on the bass guitar market worldwide as far as sparkles go, the batteries in the preamp have lasted me six months which is pretty unreal considering how much I play. Then, it feels better than any other instrument I've ever laid my hands on. The neck, the contours, the acoustic feel you get in such a slim package. Finally, the playability and the electronics are both as good as they could possibly get.
It's a bigger Sterling body with the perfect Stingray neck with top of the line hardware and electronics. For me, this is my dream bass. Every time I play it memories flood to me on how many times someone has come up to me and educated all their friends on how I'm playing the ultimate funk machine and they'll just stare at it. My instrument begs to be slapped and excels in the mix whenever I need to make any playing adjustment whatsoever.
Keep on thumpin my EBMM SS brothers and sisters

Great find. I think Burnt Apple is more of a metallic as compared the the charcoal or amethyst which look like flake that EB calls sparkle.
My Special is one of my top 2 bass purchases I’ve ever made.
Such a beautiful well made , great sounding bass.
