Ironically..after 30-ish years of playing bass/weekend warrior, I recently tried my first set of SS Rotosound 66's. I went with the 40-100's, on a P bass with GZR's....so you can imagine the soundI really dig em and want to try the 45-105's next. My only concerns are: 1) Will they be too stiff, I'm used to Sunbeams and dont like string a whole lot stiffer than those(ageing hands), and 2) I've almost always used Nickle strings out of fear that SS wears frets, although this is prob much less of an issue with the Specials. How do the Nickle Roto's sound and feel by comparison?
If you like the Roto 66's you'll likely also like these. They are cheap enough, pick up a set and see what you think. That's all I've been using on my Specials lately. They are cheaper than and maintain their zing longer than the stock Slinkys.
