I checked out this finish in person the other day and it was one of my favs. I wish they offered with a rosewood board.

So after some thought, what actual notes are you tuning to? Just curious….

I've never had a problem with narrow nut slots on Stingrays when using those string sizes, including the Compensated Nut that was on my 2011 SR5. But the lowest I've ever tuned down was only 1/2-step (Bb, Eb, Ab, Db, Gb). I actually set up one bass for that particular gig, although with all the basses I play so far, tuning back and forth between the two tunings hasn't called any problems.

(I'm actually anxious to try my about-to-arrive Stingray Special on this gig. But I have several local and sub gigs, as well as a few church services to play it on first)

For the Stingray Special owners, did the recent model Specials come with a case? If so, is it the Pro Tech case? I have 2 of those cases for my Lulls and I like them very much.

The bass is new, but even then, I should have asked the seller if the bass came with a case, I guess. I'll find out Saturday....

Depending on how new it will probably be the new Mono case EBMM is using. If it was older stock it may have a regular hard case

Wow, this seller is up early and quick to respond!….
I sent a message last night and was informed that this bass does indeed comes with a case. He’s pretty sure it’s new enough stock to come with the Mono case (not the ProTec case, which are great cases, too).
Again, we’ll know tomorrow….

I have a question for those of you who have more than one Special. I have three Stingray Specials now and noticed that one of them is substantially louder with all the same settings, pick up height, strings height, strings etc than the other two. It's a pretty substantial difference. When I only had two Specials I didn't know if the louder one was normal or if the quieter one was the norm. I questioned EBMM about it one time and they didn't really have an answer, they just sent send it in and we will test it. Yes, but send which one in? Now that I got a third special it seems that the norm is the quiter one. It's not really a huge problem it's just I'm wondering why one Special would be so much hotter than the other two if they all use the same pickups/ electronics? The hotter bass is a 4HH whereas the other 2 are 4H. All in Stingray position 1 mode. Anyone else experience this sort of thing with their Specials ?

I wonder if there's a trim pot on the Pre-Amp. If so then one is just adjusted a little higher.

My HH is more of everything compared to my H models .

Don't have a lot of experience but when I tested a Special 5 HH next to my Special 5 H (same strings, amp, etc) they were equal in output.

Also I had the pickup in my 5H replaced by EBMM as it was really noisy if I touched the pickup poles. The new pickup sounded exactly the same and the output was the same as well

I wonder if there's a trim pot on the Pre-Amp. If so then one is just adjusted a little higher.

I opened up my Special5HH to see if there were any trim pots, but there didn't seem to be anything. I didn't take the plate away from the pots and inspect that side, though, just the back of it.

All 3 are Specials, so yes.

I have two Stingray Special HH's and both are the same volume. Not that anyone asked, but I did find my SBMM Ray34 HH's hotter than the Specials and those are only 9 volts. Just an FYI.

Argghh...Fedex tracking on my new Stingray Special arrival sat on one stop for almost 24 hours....

Then I get a notification that it will be Monday the 19th instead of today the 17th.

Fair enough...I'm off on Monday, too (having a large tree removed from my roof as a result of storms a couple of nights ago. That's another story. All is "mostly" well).

And I missed this in the not-so-fine print regarding the case....
