I’ve never used a Markbass before but I use an Aguilar tone hammer 700 and an AG 700 each going into an SL112. I think it does the warmth thing pretty well.StingRay Special with Aguilar Tone Hammer and/ or SL212 cab experience anyone? I have no knowledge of what the Aguilar stuff is known for. Anyone have an opinion? I want something that can do vintage warmth and a nice clean tone as well.
Will it be compatible to MarkBass ?
It’s to be expected.I hope I didn't let you down, getting another burst.

To be honest, nothing. I actually like it quite a bit. Just want to know how a tone hammer compares . Is it similar ?@LadyLoveStingRay5, what are you looking for that your MarkBass rig isn't giving you?
So for something that would work great with the Specials, would you pick the Tone Hammer or the AG? Which would you. pick for getting that classic Motown, Disco ,Funk, R&B, and modern urban gospel ?I’ve never used a Markbass before but I use an Aguilar tone hammer 700 and an AG 700 each going into an SL112. With every Stingray 5 I’ve ever owned of any type, I always used 50, 70, 85, 105, 135.What’s the fattest gauge strings you guys run with your special? My band tunes to A and I was looking to get bigger strings but it doesn’t look like the nut can be modified really. Any tips? Currently playing .125 set. Thanks gents.
Perfect. That’s excellent. Thank you the reply. I’ll be taking a trip to Sweetwater to pick up a heavier set tomorrow. With every Stingray 5 I’ve ever owned of any type, I always used 50, 70, 85, 105, 135.
When my new Stingray 5 Special arrives this Saturday, I imagine the 2nd or 3rd thing I’m gonna do with it is to install that same gauge of Pro Steels on it.
Errr…Perfect. That’s excellent. Thank you the reply. I’ll be taking a trip to Sweetwater to pick up a heavier set tomorrow.
