EBMM StingRay Special Club

Lots of great comments, with a surprising amount in favor of the pearl pickguard. I like them both, and not sure which one will live on this bass long term, but honestly expected more people to say the black looks cleaner. I kind of feel that way too, but also agree with the comment that the pearl changes the look of the bass and focuses more on the pickup style, and I think that looks pretty cool. The black one on the other hand blends a bit more with the burst and draws much less focus. Both are great in their own way, and I’ll probably change them out on occasion depending on my mood, lol.
Another thought I had would be to get a completely black pickguard, no bwb layer, and use black screws. Then it would really blend in. That’s a project for next year…

Depends…but for me…it looks way more tough in black. But if you’re playing 70s classic rock, maybe the white…but, I’d still keep the black.
I like both.
Black makes the horns pop and the lighter one helps bring out the lighter burst. Can’t lose in my opinion.
I know I just put the vintage pearl pickguard on my 4HH special, but I’ve been considering going full blackout on this bass pretty much since I got it. Something like this:
The only thing I can’t buy off the shelf for my EBMM Stingray Special is the black bridge. I think I’ve read that if I contact EBMM and send them my chrome bridge they will send me a black one, but that makes this color swap permanent. Not sure I’m ready for that level of commitment. Thoughts? Would a solid black pickguard with black screws still look good on this finish if the all the rest of the hardware is still chrome?

If EBMM would make that swap for a gold bridge and tuners, I’d be there in a heartbeat.
IMO...all black hardware (including screws) would be perfection! That was my one gripe on my Canadian Dingwalls - the black hardware and stainless screws - kind of defeats the purpose and broke it up too much (for my liking)...there has to be someone who anodizes stainless screws etc...anyway - I say do the black - it's always nicer than chrome.

I find the Peach Guitars demos are really well done. A good representation of the different wood combinations.
For a minute, I feared the video of the Amethyst Sparkle bass was just going to be a slap fest. Glad it featured some fingerstyle playing.
Yea they got in a ton of colors of the specials so i noticed they have been pretty diverse on how they are demoing them all! They have one where its mostly slap, the next color a few days later they do it with effects, the next one with pick playing, next color with fingerstyle ect, gives a pretty good idea of everything and its not just the color changing video to video in the showcases!
I just got a new Stingray Special 5 HH today. It's my first 5 string, so I expect it'll take some getting used to. The setup isn't terrible. It's playable, but I'll fine tune it after I get some cobalt flats on it. I'm not a fan of whatever the stock strings are. I really like feel of the neck.

Based on your picture, I think yours looks like a Burnt Ends, but it's close enough to my Vintage Tobacco Burst (with an aftermarket tort pickguard) to make me drool.
I love my Kingpin, but it doesn't see as much work as it should. The front pickup is just a touch too much in the way if/when I have to slap.
Some nice woodgrain there and burnt ends looks dope

And how is the finish now that youve had it for a bit, ive had really old satin black body finishes before and they get shiney in certian places and looks sketch, not sure if technology in paint has come along sicne then or if its not as satin as your picture makes it look!
Yes, mine is the burnt ends. On mine I think the tort pick guard is a bit too over top for the light burnt ends finish. It kind of visually over powers the wood. I think a white or black might look better on mine. I think the tort looks pretty good on your darker tobacco burst finish though.
