True! And, if you're a player who needs a bright, zingy bass tone, that's an even bigger problem because you have to keep buying new strings to keep that tone.
Luckily for me, I like a warm deeper tone with not a lot of high end (not DEAD strings, I want the notes I play to be clear enough to be heard). But it's a lot cheaper to like nickel rounds that are well broken in and flatwounds.![]()
I'm the same as you. I just put on a new pair and can't stand the bright zingy sound. I can't wait until then settle in.True! And, if you're a player who needs a bright, zingy bass tone, that's an even bigger problem because you have to keep buying new strings to keep that tone.

Just out of curiosity, is there any difference in the way this one sounds compared to its predecessor? I'm not suggesting the painted headstock makes a tonal difference, just wondering if the two extremely similar basses have tonal differences worth mentioning.I thought Monday would never get here. My custom has finally arrived !!
And with this …… I think I’m done !!
Getting my Fretless and now this , there is nothing else I need , desire , or want. ( Except a Tiffany’s Blue Sparkle or Burst). I might get brave and do that to my Old Smoothie one day.
Anyway, the one thing that always bugged me about my Amethyst Sparkle was that is was lacking one thing to make it perfect. So I begged and pleading my case and finally got EBMM to agree to build me a custom.

Now she is perfect!! Even weighs less than my other one which is already sold . 8.2lbs of sparkling purple royalty!! Her majesty the Queen has been properly crowned !!!
Ouch! Yeah, that can hurt.Story of my bass playing life... I've always liked new strings, if money and guilt about being wasteful wasn't an issue I'd probably change strings every 2 weeks. Now I do about every 6 weeks
The new custom is lighter in weight by about 7 oz. I usually take off the rounds immediately . I haven’t been led to do that yet on this one. It just sings and I like how ALIVE it sounds . This one came with the new Mono bag which I also prefer .Just out of curiosity, is there any difference in the way this one sounds compared to its predecessor? Also, was there something you didn't like about the Fuego, or did you just prefer the Purple Sunset body?
My bass arrived today. No Tootsie Rolls or Smarties but the bass makes up for it.Hello EBMM Stingray Special Club. I will officially be joining your ranks on Friday when this beauty arrives from Sweetwater. I am beyond pumped!
I can only hope it will arrive with Tootsie Rolls and Smarties.![]()
That's gorgeous!
Thanks. I’m kind of obsessed with it.@tb-player that is gorgeous!!

Come on in. The water is fine!Y'all are making it really tough to NOT join in the buying frenzy. Seriously!!!!![]()

Another beautiful Bass congratulations Enjoy. So, this one came in today. The moonbeam BFR. I really had no intention of buying another 5HH as I already have one in amethyst sparkle and I was considering adding a dark ray or special 4H, but I’m a sucker for purple and figured maple and it helped that I was able to get a pretty decent discount from the dealer. Now I just have to decide if I’m going to sell my amethyst sparkle or not.

Man! I really like those Moonbeam Stingrays. I looked hard at them, but just didn't think I could pull it off. Yours is beautiful! They only made 100 of those. What number is yours? So, this one came in today. The moonbeam BFR. I considered one of these myself. I think the blocks are beautiful. But I decided that I prefer no maple top and no blocks on the StingRay body shape. I also already have the Crescendo BFR HH and I have no plans to let that one go. I would have been in the same dilemma that you are now. Maybe if you can swap someone for an Amethyst Sparkle 5H , 4H , or 4HH for your 5HH that would give you variety . If not, keep it. They both look amazing. So, this one came in today. The moonbeam BFR.
