Sorry fellas. I know I’m talking fashion and such . But I’m a lady. And yes we see our instruments and straps as fashion accessories at times. We like everything coordinated and notice the fine details . But as you can tell, we like the way they sound and play too.
Now back to our regular scheduled program .

Nice clips! Green instruments can be polarizing but I really like that one.

Yes!! I’m kind of shocked at the low price they have them listed for. My local guy purchased both of them from me for not to below what they have them listed for. He must know the management or something .

The Fuego is an interesting one since it's not the original figured maple fretless neck. I've not got an explanation for the Amethyst Sparkle.

Yes. I too was surprised by the prices. They'll be good deals for somebody.

Maybe I‘m a little biased by owning 2 StingRays with a maple fretboard by myself, but yes, I can hear some slight differences. Out of these 3 vids I always liked the maple FBs the most, close second is the rosewood. The ebony boards have a little bit less overtones and sound a little tighter to my ears.

Obrad produces nice content. Always liked his vids!

I don't really hear much of a difference at all, there is a super slight one, but if you had me just listening to the video playing a whole song all the way through without telling me its a comparsion video and asked me what i thought.. i definately wouldn't have said that the tone or bass was changing every 15 seconds tbh, and not saying its definately the case but some of the difference could even be attributed to the setup on each not being exactly the same.

I also find it funny cause if you look at the comments in the videos the observations are all over the place... with most people just saying the advertised "the maple is brighter and snappier, and the ebony is rounder" which the slight differences (very slight) im hearing, the roasted maple is the most mellow in the examples.

I have owned all 3. Videos do not capture what your ears hear in person.

The trebles on ebony are not too my liking . I do hear more snap on maple.
Ebony has more sustain. Rosewood I hear more of the mids and lows.
Rosewood notes bloom.
Ebony notes are less immediate and last longer.
Maple notes are quick and punchy. I find rosewood and maple to both have a sweetness ( fullness and weight) to the notes compared to ebony.
If I was into harder music, I would prefer ebony and maple.

In the middle video each bass also has a different pickup type and different type of strings. So not really an apples to apples comparison.

I still greatly prefer ebony on the Special

I own maple & ebony on Jazz basses but they are completely different beast passive Geddy with maple 70's spacing. Sire V7 2nd Gen active and 60's spacing with ebony. I like both basses for completely different reason.

I own 4HH Special with rosewood lately its being played the most of all my basses . My 5H special is roasted maple absolutely love roasted maple necks my favorite by far. But figure since I have a Special with Roast Maple & Rosewood already complete the trifecta with a 5 HH Ebony, But for me at least buying a Special is a major investment not one I take on lightly. It's not happening ASAP unless a few changes LOL.
I personally heard differences but like many have stated not enough to have me shy away from a certain type. I was intrigued to hear what others heard and personal preferences are.

I prefer maple fingerboards simply because I like the looks of maple better. I still make the bass sound like me, for better or worse.

I do prefer the rosewood fingerboards for fretless bass.

The biggest thing about the whole tone debates about wood or materials, is what it ultimately comes down to is unless your literally DI'ing with no preamp whatsoever and for some reason your sound engineer even live isnt tweaking the EQ at all, having like 2% more brightness in your body and figerboard wood is at the end of the day both pretty irrelevant after it goes though a bunch of cables, an amp with EQ, a mixing board with eq ect ect, let alone a bass with a 3 band on board EQ. Even if we agree the maple is brighter. moving your amp knob 5% in either direction ultimately makes up for that, especially once you put it in a mix with other instruments or drums.

Me ears aren’t sophisticated enough to tell a big difference. However, I love all of them.
