I’ve been wanting a 30th anniversary model for a while and one happened to be on the Guitar Center used section. After consulting the accounting department and some mild arm-twisting from a fellow player yada yada yada I have a tracking number

I like black hardware with some finishes, but not all. Overall, I think EBMM does a good job of matching the hardware and the finished of its basses.

Your comment is bang on. Today I spent the day playing my Stingray 5 HH and really enjoying the tones on tap with this bass. I was not comparing it to anything and treating it as is own unique sounds. It inspired me allot and I am really appreciating this bass again. Thanks again for the reminder.
Yeah I think this the only way to approach any instrument accept what's its capabilities are not what it isn't. Then decide if those capabilities are for you.
Coincidentally , I spent the first part of my day rehearsing with my 5HH. Then my evening was spent with my Sandberg.
Like you, I’m very thankful for all of my basses.
Im not looking for anymore either.
I couldn’t do it. It’s a keeper. Once I stopped comparing it , I realized why I bought it in the first place.

Thanks, @LadyLoveStingRay5 ! I did some slight editing using Lightroom to the lighting to represent the bass as close as I can to what I'm seeing with my naked eye.
Great color and your pics did a nice job showing it off.
Is that also an ebony fretboard? Even if it's just a relatively dark rosewood, it looks great with the black hardware.
It's a nice shade of rosewood but I wish it came with an ebony fretboard (and matching headstock).

I've always strung Nickel-plated Rounds on mine; tried the EB Slinky (that came with the bass of course), DR Sunbeams, Rotosound Nickel Swing 66, GHS Bass Boomers, Dunlop Superbright and more recently (and currently my favorite), LaBella RX Nickels.
I have GHS Pressurewounds, GHS Super Steels and LaBella RX Steels on my other basses (Sandberg, Yamaha, Atelier Z, etc) but have not tried them on any of my Stingray Specials. Anyone has any experience with the Pressurewounds and SS rounds?

Mine's wearing a set of Pressurewounds. I don't see myself taking them off, they work a treat. A set of nickle rounds (likely Elixirs) gave a bit too much zing, EB Group flats not enough, and these were just right.
(The EB Group flats were also very nice in their own way, though.)

i have two sets of Pressurewounds on order which are actually for my Sandberg TM2 and VM4. now im thinking if i should try one of them on the Stingray. do you happen to have any sound clips of your Stingray with the pressurewounds?
they sound like worn in roundwounds on my Sandberg but without the string noise. my Sandberg however has a very polite preamp compared to the Stingray. I'm just a little afraid I will lose all the sizzle (I'm not a fan of sizzle but I do like it to be there "on demand" whenever the need calls for it).
