EBMM StingRay Special Club

Actually, Stingrays in general aren't known for a terribly hot output signal, including regular SR5s and the Special that I own now. EBMM has stated that the output was purposely designed to be similar to passive basses to keep players from dealing with basses and varying output levels. I actually raised the pup on my Special to get a little bite out of the tone.
I'd make a call to EBMM customer service and see what they think or say. They are great with helping customers with such questions or issues. I managed to break the B side of the nut on my Special H5 the second day it was in my possession! I called them, admitted what I did, we all chuckled, and they send me two replacement nuts free of charge. (A pity move, I'm sure. I earned it...
). They've always been great to me anytime I called. I'm sure they'll have some insight to your issue. And please get back to us here. I'm quite curious what they'll say.

I'm really close on buying this Stingray 5HH from Sweetwater. It weighs roughly 4 pounds less than my old one I gigged for years. Also thinking about a White Pearloid Pickguard on this one. You guys think that would look good?

I loved that older Stingray 5HH I had and probably had in on over 1500 gigs but the over 12.5 pound weight got old lol.

if it was a brand new bass under warranty I can see but I dunno about one that several years old possibly. I did adjust the pick up a little more lower and it seems more manageable now. I just wish people took better care of their instruments because it looks like the hardware was never cleaned it’s got a nice layer of crud on it. Noticed the new Genzler ube head. How does it compare to the regular 800? I've used Genzler for years and love them.
If you mean the Magellan 800 I don't know, never used one. I did have a tubed Mesa WD 800 a few weeks ago, it was really nice too but I just couldn't bond with it so returned it. I still have a Mesa D-350 and an Aguilar TH-350, both are great but this tubed Genzler Kinetix is on a different level. The Stingray never sounded so good.

Absolutely go with the White Pearl!
I’m back to EBMM Slinky ( Cobalt ) flats on my Amethyst . Same as my 5HH. I love the feel and tone once they break in .

Me! Cobalts. Tried the other EB flats and didn’t dig it. Had some labella’s on another bass that just lost their magic over time.

Those are sweet I think it’s a Sweetwater exclusive color. And matching headstock for the win. I dig my Aqua Sparkle but that would be a strong contender if I didn’t have a blue one.

I wish it had a Ebony fretboard but that roasted maple is nice.
