I’m back to EBMM Slinky ( Cobalt ) flats on my Amethyst . Same as my 5HH. I love the feel and tone once they break in .

Anyone else like flats on their Special ?

I've got TI jazz flats on my 4H (pictured to the left) and have been enjoying them. I can't recall which specific strings I have on my fretless but they're pressure wounds I believe and I like those too.

I dig the flame maple top and neck. This one has the slab body - no tapering on the horns. Probably because the maple top isn't thick enough to be 'present' on the tapered edges. Nevertheless, a stunner.

I’m totally bonded with my WD, but I like to keep up with the Genzler gear.

Yes, It just came out a few days ago so there is not a lot out there yet on it, but I'm totally in love it.

Same. I’ve fallen hard for Cobalt Flats. Had them on my Ray34 until I got my 4HH special and swapped them over. 34 got the regular slinkys the 4HH came with. Played the 34 the other day and I did not care for the rounds.

I didn’t notice much of a tone change throughout their break in. Can’t explain what it is about the tone I like so much, it’s just a little something extra. Subtle, but it’s there. Love the feel more than anything and the tension.

I'm really close on buying this Stingray 5HH from Sweetwater. It weighs roughly 4 pounds less than my old one I gigged for years. Also thinking about a White Pearloid Pickguard on this one. You guys think that would look good?

Since the hardware is chrome white pearloid would pop.

I like the flame maple better but they both look nice . Based on my experience from a USA SUB with painted neck that I owned, I swore off painted necks. However , the painted neck on my BFR Crescendo has since changed my mind. It feels nice and smooth , not sticky or rough .

They have a nice growl to them. I buy the lightest ones I can .

They need 2 more. One with black headstock and painted neck, and one with matching headstock and flamed maple neck. I would have built them like this from the jump.

But EBMM hasn’t hired me as a bass designer yet. ​

If you mean the Magellan 800 I don't know, never used one. I did have a tubed Mesa WD 800 a few weeks ago, it was really nice too but I just couldn't bond with it so returned it. I still have a Mesa D-350 and an Aguilar TH-350, both are great but this tubed Genzler Kinetix is on a different level. The Stingray never sounded so good.

I always use to say that a Genz Benz Streamliner is a Stingray's Best Friend. That combination sounds great while the Mesa WD800 sounds awesome with HH Stingrays. If the Kinetix is similar-ish to a Streamliner, then yeah I can picture why you are so happy with it .

Man that sounds killer. Going to test drive a couple of these this weekend and will be getting one if I like.
