I played one of the new white sparkle ones a few months ago at Guitar Center. All of the fret edges were sharp and there were
dead notes in the higher register. D or G string, I do not exactly remember. The action was a little high so not any back bow. I don't follow Stingrays and was unaware, so I wrote it off as either a bad fret job or possibly dead strings. But I left saying no way I'll pay $2800 for that! (comparing to Spector Euro, USA G&L, and German Warwick).
This week I bought a 4H Special from a local in my area. It does have the same sharp fret edges however no dead spots or real volume lacking in any of the registers. Ebony fret board.
Since these have stainless steel frets, I am going to try some stainless steel rounds such as RotoSound 66.
