EBMM StingRay Special Club

I took a decent photo of this thing. I’ve been liking it a lot

My SR5 arrived today. Boy is it nice! Subtle, but pretty figuring on the neck & fretboard. Super lightweight (8lb 7oz). Great low action. Classic Stingray tone. It’s a really, really good one.

I can’t wait for the vintage pearl guard to arrive. It’s going to look great… and it’ll get it as close to this bass as I can find in a fiver.

Another 'Ray in da house. 2011, dead mint Classic SR4. Had another that I sold, partially regretted it...than, I luckily found and immediately grabbed this one (plays even better).

Already put EB Group 3 flats (.45-.100) along with new 9v battery

Very nice!! Beautiful. I also have a 2011 just like this, except flame instead of birds eye, also mint. I am selling it only because i SLIGHTLY prefer my black Retro 70s. What does it weigh?

4.23kgs, not too far from my Special 4HH (ash body, too - 4.04kgs). Had another Classic that was around that weight, but sounded a little worse (2-3 dead spots on the E string) - with a slightly thinner neck, I think. This one is a beast.

And never got the chance to try a Retro 70s, I'd be curious to own one...in order to compare them all  How do you compare the Retro to the Classic?

Trying to decide if it is worth the $75 to get the tortoise pickguard from EBMM for my SS4HH. I’ve got the black pickguard on there right now, but I’m thinking this bass might look better with tort. I asked ChatGPT to help. What do you think looks better?

I also have the factory white pickguard which I’m leaning towards using again as well. Image generated by ChatGPT again:

Maybe Mint green? ChatGPT to the rescue again:

I like the black. I was going to suggest vintage pearl but I threw it in ChatGPT and it looked terrible... lol.

I like the tort, but black is a close 2nd. I say save the $75 and keep the black

Definitely not the mint green. Black followed by tort are my picks.

That does look really good. Did it come that way or did you make the swap?
It was originally white. But the original owner bought the tort guard and an aged white one and included all three when I bought it and I've kept the tort on. I like the white but the aged white didn't seem that different from the original white, at least on the bass. And, since I'm a tort guy any way, my choice was easy. :D But at least I can change the look any time I decide to, which is a lot cheaper than buying a new bass. *
