I love how the dark portion of the body edging blends perfectly with the rosewood board. Beautiful bass!

Did you setup bass? Check that you have proper relief and neck is not to flat

Happy player of a Stingray Special 4HH (rosewood fingerboard). I like the bass so much, I’m considering whether to obtain another Stingray.
But so many options! Should I go with a Darkray 5H maple fingerboard (top contender right now), or maybe a fretless 4H Pino Palladino model? (I already have fretless 5 by Sadowsky.) Also, Sweetwater has a very interesting (to me) fretless Darkray 4H pau Ferro on back order.
Any ideas to help me choose? Jazzy funky bluesy rock metal punk music is my jam.

No rattling on open strings, the nut is properly done.
I obviously tried EVERYTHING: neck relief/straightness (lboth oosing and tightening), pickups height (from "optimal" balance, in order to achieve proper tones in all 5 position, to neck pu almost drown in the body in order to avoid magnetic pull), strings set and gauge (stock Ernie Ball 45-100 and Rotosound RS66LD, the ones I usually play on modern Stingrays).
Only disappears with crazy high action (4mm on the E string) and light touch. It's not the kind of rattling that appear when playing with heavy touch (which is normal).
The bass is impossible to be played with my usual setup (3mm bass side / 2,5mm G side - that's what I'm able to use on my 5H Special). I'm hating the thing.
That sucks. Is it under warranty? I'd contact EBMM, or just return it where you bought it. Might just be a lemon
My Special 5H is 2mm on the B at 12th fret and no buzzing or rattling anywhere

The more light, the more white it looks. I’m guessing these sparkle finishes are intended to impress when stage lighting is hitting them from different angles.

EBMM's already aware of - they've been very kind and committed to my case, I truly appreciate them.
Unfortunately, it's all up to the store whom I originally purchased the bass. It's currently under warranty (for the second time) and I'm out of the return/money back period. Don't know how will they manage it...as far as I'm concerned, this very bass it's faulty and simply shouldn't have left the factory.
I cannot remotely accept a 3000+ € instrument with this kind of issue.
And I won't buy an HH model again, that's for sure.
Sorry to hear about this issue but I doubt a second pickup is the culprit.
Have you properly measured the relief? It sounds like your neck may have a slight back bow.
Hope they do right by you. I'd be pissed too
My bass was noisy in the faux single coil position and they replaced the pickup. But I live in California and it was easy to send it to EBMM to be fixed. Not sure how they handle it when overseas.
Unless you are 100% confident in your setup, I would have a tech look it over.
Any idea what the rattle is? Truss rod vibrating? Or is it more like a high fret? My stingray was plek’d, still needed a shim, took forever for the neck to settle, and had lots of electronic issues under warranty that took a long time to fix. I guess if you’re willing to keep chasing down problems you’ll maybe end up with a great bass! I love mine now, but it was a dog when I got it.
I once had similar rattling on one of my Les Pauls, turned out to be a tuner that wasn't tightened properly and the bushing was moving around. Might want to look at that despite what it sounds like. For me, it sounded like it was near the middle of the neck and it turned out not to be the case at all. What I thought was a major issue turned out to be nothing, fixed in ten seconds.
Alternately, it might be a slight back-bow in the neck. Might want to use a rule to check for that as well.

I needed a replacement pickup under warranty and live an Australia. EBMM were fantastic, sent out a new pickup no questions asked. Was incredibly fast too. It was arranged through the retailer, who is an authorised distributor.
