So, what do you think? Was I off-base or maybe not using it correctly? I still am gasing after a wah pedal... I have an autowah that I like a lot, but a pedal is another animal and miss it in my effects chain.
Depends what you were after... but I am surprised you couldn't dial in a wah tone that worked for you. It is VERY flexible
The basic flavor of the filter is similar to the wahone. but the controls are MUCH improved, allowing far greater variety. I am glad I made the move up to the stanwah
The problem I had with it was that I didn't find the sweep wide enough and thought it sounded thin... I am willing to consider that it was me, but I did keep it for about two weeks and tried hard to find settings that I liked.
I did think it looked sexy as hell on stage though.
a wah is a bandpass filter and that can always sound "thin" if it's not dialed in right.
the sweep can get silly wide, and the lowpass mode is anything but thin. But a very adjustable wah is by definition one that can be tricky to dial in your preferrd settings
matter of taste comes into play too
