Echo Fix EF-P5 Fet compressor

This was released this week, what do we think? Picked one up so can report back if anyone is interested, seems like they’re trying to fill the hole that the big box cali’s left behind with a similar feature set at around the same price at launch. Besides price a HPF side chain is a notable improvement over the Cali’s in my book as well

Please do report. I have their other two pedals (would love a tape delay too, but a little out reach) and can't fault them; the spring reverb is always on, and the chorus is a beauty. This compressor will likely be my next pedal purchase, if only to complete the set :).

Thanks for posting about this. Cam't wait to check it out.

Fifteen minutes in, and this thing just oozes quality. So good.

It cannot come soon enough for me lol, how does it play with the oracle? Am considering that as a front end to warm up a stomp or anagram potentially as a small(er) fly rig
Only an hour in so far, but quite nicely. I've used a Cali76CB and Alma mk2 with great results before this, and this seems no different. I will say the EF-P5 is warmer than either. The Alma is darker, though, and this is closer to the Cali, no surprise.

Yeah I’m buying this hoping to replace the 76CB, it can be slightly too forward in the top end for my taste but I love its compression characteristics. That sound plus some more warmth sounds like a winning combo to me

Some sound clips I threw together quickly. by no means scientific lol, but shows a small portion of what the pedal can do. Something to note is that all the settings are extremely interactive. for instance I was getting quite bit of gain reduction at 4:1 but at 8:1 I had to bump the input gain a bit to get the same amount. Same thing goes for the HPF

It’s especially interesting how the gain stages of the pedal interact with the mix knob and ratio buttons when the compression circuit is turned off. It’s very noticeable at higher settings, almost like there are two drive circuits that are blend-able with the mix knob. With the mix knob all the way counter clockwise you get the overloaded transformer type of distortion you’d expect, but the further clockwise you go the tighter it gets until you get an almost synthy sound, quite similar to a doom 2. The ratio buttons in different configurations also change the character of the saturation.

I'll admit I haven't thought to use it as a synth engine before, but now I'm very excited to try it. For me, I've found a few settings I really like, one for each group I play with, and haven't dived much deeper than that.

Just arrived, will upload some sound comparisons at some point but first impressions are veryyyy good, blows the cali out of the water imo
Curious about your Cali76 comparison. I quite like both, although this is obviously more flexible. The transformer adds a little special sauce, and it's not all that much more than a new Cali76.

I will say that any desire I had to try out a big box Cali is gone, though. It's hard to imagine losing the sidechain HPF and, more especially, the parallel compression.
