Ed Friedland kills it...

Yeah he can play. Most gear informative bass player I know of. I always trust his reviews. Plus he owns my Mike Lull P 5 now. He's pictured with it in his recent bass player columns. I knew it was a great bass. I just didn't like the Sonic blue.

No need to flame someone for their opinion.

That I agree with that. But... in the case of Mechanical; the thread was from 1 year ago. He must have searched for Ed Friedland threads and chose this one to basically be rude and troll. The thread was started on 1-17-2012 and survived until 1-20-2012, then a whole year later Mechanical's troll post comes in on 1-23-2013. He deserves all the harsh criticism IMO for his bad forum etiquette.

OK, so it seems there is some debate about whether this Ed guy is a good bass player. But, he clearly doesn't suck at everything in life. I mean, have you seen his wife?

It's true, if nothing else, I have a smoking hot wife (Thank You Lord), and she seems happy.

And thanks again for all the positive reinforcement, even the stuff from my imaginary internet friends that may not actually SOUND like positive reinforcement... you know who you are!

I don't get upset by people voicing opinions... This little feller obviously has an axe to grind, and I know how he feels. Perhaps he's feeling the first flush of achievement and got a little attitude up. Yeah, I remember the day I too mastered the intro to "Sweet Child Of Mine", the sound of my taught Squier Affinity bass pumping furious gobs of tone from my massive 15-watt Crate bass amp seemed to fill my bedroom with the awesome power of low-end energy. I was invincible! I WAS Duff! I was BETTER than Duff! I was better than ALL of them! So naturally, the first thing I did was go out and prove to everyone just how awesome I was! We didn't have teh internetz back then, so I had to do it the old fashioned way - hanging out at the local music store, playing that intro over and over with the best gear in the shop. I made that Jay Turser bass sound like God's own voice through that 30-watt Crate amp. No one could touch me.

So, I kind of get how Mechanical feels. He's got the wide view perspective one can only achieve through countless minutes of dedicated practice. He's honed his craft over weeks, and is ready to unleash it on the world.

Mechanical, take note - if you want to destroy someone on the interwebz, that's how you do it.

im trying to get better at site reading so i got his bass method book .He really knows what he is doing huge help best money spent in a while.I would of spent hundreds in lessons to get where i am now .

Great playing. I have spoken to him. He seemed like a normal guy to me. I think his book is the best beginning bass book out there. Building Walking Lines is standard for me to teach young players how to get started in jazz band.

His product reviews are excellent. Makes me want everything! I don't know about his wife, but I'm nothing to write home about and I have a hot wife 14 years younger than me! I can't play like Ed, but it seems I can "score" like Ed.

See Ed's post just below yours.....seems they are both on the same level now.

The guy got all the fanboys knickers in a twist, and got the response he required, and for bonus points, he got Ed Friedland to slump to his level and be just as petty.

Welcome to the internet. Modern day Juvenile detention.

Disappointing.

Well, at least we have the detention teachers, like you, to be above the fray and lead by example. Oh, wait..you're just as bad. It's a slippery slope, ain't it?

And, I'm sorry--having a different opinion is one thing. Character assassination is another. If someone tells me that they don't like Sadowsky basses (for example) because of how they sound or feel, that's fine. If someone tells me that Sadowsky (for example only) is a blight on the world of bass guitars and makes the worst basses known to mankind, that's not fine. See the difference?

Someone insulted my friend, and I told him to put up, or shut up. I'd have done the same thing to his face.

Ed Friedland once punched my mom in the throat and then took my dad out to eat at Sizzler.

On a serious note I really appreciate his gear reviews and enjoy his playing. I can't speak about his books and lessons as it is obvious if you have ever heard me play I have not had any instruction...or talent, or sense of rhythm. Actually now that I think about it this Ed Friedland thread has made me realize that I am not a good bass player, ok I don't like Ed now either!:spit:
