Ed Friedland kills it...

i love ed's reviews and he was a major factor in me getting my L2k, but i i'd like to see him go to a pawn shops or bargain basement type stores and rock out some weird old vintage equipment someday, maybe like diners, drive ins, and dives i guess, probably more of a reality show than a review, he seems to have a great sense of humor and i think he'd be very interesting outside of his studio

I asked him about that and he said it wouldn't happen 'cuz there was no one to sponsor it. If we really wanted to, we could always start a pool, I guess. I for one have always been interested to hear his opinion on the T-40.

Yeah, I remember the day I too mastered the intro to "Sweet Child Of Mine", the sound of my taught Squier Affinity bass pumping furious gobs of tone from my massive 15-watt Crate bass amp seemed to fill my bedroom with the awesome power of low-end energy. I was invincible! I WAS Duff! I was BETTER than Duff! I was better than ALL of them! So naturally, the first thing I did was go out and prove to everyone just how awesome I was! We didn't have teh internetz back then, so I had to do it the old fashioned way - hanging out at the local music store, playing that intro over and over with the best gear in the shop. I made that Jay Turser bass sound like God's own voice through that 30-watt Crate amp. No one could touch me.

It is an utter crime that TB's board parameters would not allow for a sig this long. :D

my .02 is that the Mechanical dude is just a troll trying to get a rise.

Ed's teaching materials, whether book or dvd, have been a big help to me and may other folks around the world. Gonna go home this eve and continue my effort to get through the Bass Improvisation book.

Groovy player and fine soloist for certain. Thanks Ed.

Bob

I like the gear demos too, but I wouldn't really call them reviews because there is no real criticism.;) Great videos none the less, very useful.:)

Agreed. But I think that's OK. There's plenty of bashing that goes on. It's nice to hear "just the facts" and get a nice demo. I still want almost anything I hear him demo.

Anyway, it's fun being flamed and hacked to pieces by an anonymous assassin. It takes great courage to attack people under the "cloak of invisibility", and I applaud you.

;)

I have known Ed for a while and have always dug his playing and he's a nice and respectful person. I really like what he was doing on his 6 string in the first video posted in this thread.

Ed seems to be very keen at balancing the abilty to be a well rounded and sincerely talented player, clinician and teacher and I wish him the best and many years to come for his contribution to bass is much appreciated not just by me but many more.

I have on occasion recommended Ed's books to my students over the years and will continue to do so.

Yeah, I'll be back in production mode this fall, just a few more pieces of the puzzle to put in place before I get started. Thanks for all the kind words, and support.

Like before, if you have requests for specific items, you'll have to lobby the mfg. as it's ultimately their call. But in this next round, I will only be taking on pieces that I'm personally interested in. Whatever it is, I have to see it as useful to me, or I'm not going to take the time to demo it. So, as always - don't consider them "reviews", they are demos. From this point on, if you see it in my hands, you can assume it's something I like.
