EDEN 410 XLT

Hey Munji and Tim,

Let me clarify my words once again...

I went to the store with the idea I would come back with the Ampeg Cabinet. I knew that EDEN 410XLT were great from the start. But, what surprised me is the fact that the EDEN was so more focused, tight and clear than the Ampeg and other ones I tried. Therefore, I surprised myself by spending more money than I thought at first ! I just could not come back with another cabinet than the EDEN. I would have loved to try the new Peavey Pro Cabinets but none were available and my store did not have them listed.

I might be looking now for a more powerful Amp. Probably an EDEN as well...

I am now looking to replace my Peavey T-Max head with the EDEN WT-800 head.

I am wondering if I can use my 410 XLT rated at 4 ohms with the head or not ? Some say that I would need two 4 ohms cabinets. Some say that I would need a 8 ohms Cabinet to run the Amp at 800 watts. I am confused. What would be the best configuration possible ?

Should I swap the 4 ohms Cabinet for a 8 ohms version ??? I am confused.

EDEN Fans out there, please help me if you can.

You can run the 4-ohm cab off one side of the amp, but the WT800 will only bridge into an 8ohm load. Some feel this is the only drawback of this particular amp. Naturally, for maximum OOOMF, you can run two 4ohm cabs, one off each side of the 800.

Myself, I bridge mine into an 8ohm 410XLT and have never had any volume/headroom problems at any gig, even the largest venues in town (of course they also have the best PA systems :-)

As an aside, the DI on the WT800 is superb - I always ask soundmen to use it instead of whatever DI box they may be wanting to use, and have received many complements from them after the gig.

I have a problem with the WT seies not being bridgeable @ 4 ohms.

This is the reason I got the eden navigator pre, and a separate power amp. I now have a ton of options as far as ohms, and cabinet choices.

I have an 8 ohm 410XLT, and it likes the bridged 1200 watts I am throwing it very well. Sounds damn near like a large dedicated PA for my bass!

yes edens sure are nifty
only problem i ever had with them was that the low mid bump starts to sound a little artificial after comparing with cabs like epifani or bergantino in the same speaker configuration
this seemed to be the worst in the 210xlt
fwiw, i never tried the eden xst cabs vs similarly equipped epi's or bergies
not that i'm trashing eden, far from it
funny, the cab i like the most is the 410T

I've heard others say this exact same thing. You'd never say this once you've used the stuff in a gig environment. Sure other cabs sound "nicer" in the shop, but perfect tone is wasted if you can't hear yourself on stage. Eden owners can always hear themselves.........

Being a former longtime owner of a 2-10T model, I would strongly agree about that mid bump, especially when the cab is played loud.

The XLT cabs, IMHO, have a ton of bottom potential though. I know that additional porting and larger cab dimensions helped, but I can't recall if they have different drivers from the T models.

I actually need to be careful in certain playing environments because my 2-10XLTs can actually get too bottom heavy depending on tone settings and room acoustics. That said, ten inch speakers will naturally favor the mid bass frequencies. If you are concerned about undesirable middy tones, 12, 15, and 18 inch speaker cabs will surely do the job for you... or other brands as mentioned.

Some people like the mid hump. It cuts really well on stage. I think an acme has a better wholesome(round?) tone than eden. But edens are great for rock. I'm thinking of going back to eden:( I hate spending time and money deciding on my sound.

Can anyone of you EDEN Fans send me or post a picture of the back panel of the WT-800 so I can have a look at the options for speaker outputs, etc. It does not show on the Eden web site.

So far I understand I am better off with a 8 ohms cabinet to draw the most power out of the WT-800 in a bridge mode. Am I right ? I do not want to play with two cabinets for the moment.

Yep, Eden has a low mid hump...and it is there for good reason...on-stage cut. My Beriges sound better by themselves, but in a band setting FOR ME (YMMV), Eden allows me to hear myself better and keeps me from EQ "knob fondling" all night. For years I used a WT800 bridged mono into an 8ohm 410XLT. Best stage rig I've ever had. The WT800 does only bridge mono at 8ohms, and this is why I sold the amp when I bought the power thursty Bergies. I also got tired of lifting the 410XLT (98lbs seems like 198 at 3am).

Anyone tried the new XST 210 cab (not the 410)? I liked my 210T better than my 210XLT, because the T had more clarity and was more open, even though it didn't have as much low end. I'm looking for the 410XLT sound in a two cab configuration. I'd rather lift two 60lb cabs than one 98...I'm getting old and don't want to get Bass Player Back Syndrome.

I'm also curious about the Eden 112XLT coming to a store near us...someday. I'm hoping it has the vibe of the very sexy Ag112, but with the Eden low mid hump. Anyone played the 210XST or the 112XLT?

The newer WT800 has Speakons and 1/4 for Left and Right speaker outputs. It also has a seperate Speakon and 1/4 for the bridge output. Along with a tuner, effects loop and other goodies.

The older WT800 has Binding Post and 1/4 for Left and Right speaker outputs. Not sure about the bridge on the older ones. I'll take a picture of mine and post it later.

So far, after experiencing the 410 XLT with my Peavey T-Max head, I find I get a better tone with my Gibson Thunderbird 1976 than with my Rickenbacker 4003. It`s just different than what I was used to hear with the Rick and a single 15 Cabinet. But, the Tone is great !!!

I really want to have that pure Rickenbacker Tone ( like Chris Squire or Geddy Lee or Spock
`s Beard - Dave Meros )and therefore I hesitate between the head Peavey Classic all tube amp or between the EDEN WT-800. I am confused. I can not try neither amps. Your opinions, once again is greatly appreciated.

Here y'go. This is a pre-Washburn built a year ago tomorrow. Note: No steenking Speakons. I kept the image size large so you can see the printing.
