Eden EX112 neodymium speaker considerations

What did you do with the Eden 112 in the end? I'm still thinking of trying one as an extension cab...

It's too bad about the Eden cab. It had the articulation that I like, but then maybe too much articulation in the highs, which made that sizzle.
I didn't want the Fender cab at first, because it's taller, due to the tweeter & port placement. However, it works out pretty great, because I don't need to put it on a stand, like I did with the Eden.

I'm still convinced that there's something mechanically wrong with that particular cab. I have two of them and they sound nothing like what you describe.

Higher gain/overdrive can create some interesting and potentially powerful high order harmonics that might sound a bit sizzly/fizzy, but I'm also of the mind set that there's a good chance you had a bad driver in that cab. If your new cab, which has a high frequency driver in addition to the 1x12, isn't giving you those same high end artifacts at the same amp settings, the likelihood of a bad driver seems even higher to me. The good news is you got a sound you like in the end though!

Ok I decided, I'm going to try one as an extension cab for my Promethean. I don't use overdrive and the rig is mostly for fretless and EUB and occasional cello so for me the extended top end of the EX 112 should be good. Plus I can always return it...

Like @Al Kraft I have two EX110's and use them with either a GK MB200 or MB500. It wasn't until recently that I dragged one cab to a band practice. The drummer has an incredibly small but punchy drum set, a regular guitarist with a Laney combo, and a singer running into the PA with an Ovation acoustic. With my little MB200 and only one EX110, the little stack got pretty loud. I was very pleased with the sound. Unlike your experience, my tone was very even, and there was a subtle crispness in the high end. I love the sound of the whizzer and the little cab produces really nice deeeeep low end.

I think the little EX110's and EX112's are one of TB's best kept secrets for small but deep and punchy cabs. We're playing at a local club starting September 16th and I'm excited about using both cabs and my MB500.

I plan on picking up the Eden WTX264 amp head as well. I had one for a short time and the tone was very balanced and it produced a sweet crisp and deep tone. I love my small GK's but there was something special about the Eden head. Sorry I sent it back....

I have a new Eden EX112 cab coming today, UPS lost the first one I ordered last week. I already have a custom 110 cab that I've used at couple restaurant gigs we do. I run the 110 with a new GK CX210+ TC-E BH550 head. The 210 seems real boomy at one place that we are surrounded by tall windows. I even use my fDeck HPF dialed back to about 100-110 Hz or so. I do use a 5 string, fretless with nylon tapes, so that really thickens my tone too.

So I'm hoping the 8 ohm, EX112 will work well with my 8 ohm, 110 cab. I planned to buy the EX110 but was afraid it might not handle my lowend or offer me enough lowend as the 112. We play at moderate volumes but I don't go thru the PA, just acoustic gitar, hard hitting cajon-player and 3 vocals. If UPS deilvers my cab this time, I will get to use it at the restaurant next Tuesday for Mardi Gras. Just used the 210/110 past Saturday same place and rig just sounds too boomy for me.

If I've read here correctly, the EX112 has the whizzer cone? My custom 110 has no tweeter. Maybe the combo of these two cabs will work for me. If not, maybe I'll try the EX110 next.

i just bought one of these ex112-4 cabs, wow they are small, light, and sound great. love the whizzer cone. cranked distortion sounds great. sounds like OP had a dud. got mine B stock for 200 including shipping

It does in fact use a whizzer cone design speaker.

I'm not them but I did have the Promethean for a short time. I realized it was nice for the size but came to the realization that it would need more speaker. I own two EX110's and I think the Promethean would pair very nicely with an EX110. Please don't underestimate the power of those little speakers. I have a GK MB500 and Eden EX110 double stack and that stack rocks!

Thanks. Yes, I think a 210 stack with the Promethean and EX110 would serve me well (I've been borrowing a 210 extension cab for gigs for a 310 stack)...although I'm also curious how a 110+112 stack would play.

I couldn’t find an 8ohm EX110 at the time so never tried it... paired it with a Laney 115 but all you could hear was the 115 really...
