My Wt800B just blew one channel at a rehearsal. Bridged mono, playing quitely into one Bergantino cab @ 8 Ohms. Worked fine - stopped for coffee - turned it off for 10 minutes - turned it back on - nothing but distortion. Tried it mono, one side works the other doesn't. Changed cables, bridged mono, bi-amp, etc., - same thing.

Phoned the store - it's 1 week out of warranty. Figures. I think Eden's installed time bombs in there now - I wouldn't put it past them.
:scowl:

The repair shop confirmed horror stories in dealing with US music corp, and Eden, and even mentioned them getting lied to about stuff. Luckily, if it was under warranty, I may have been looking at a 3 month+ wait, getting RA's from USM, and waiting for parts. As it is, it is output transistors and such, common parts, so he'll have it fixed tommorrow. The bad news - $150.00.

HI

Not to bash but I went through much Eden gear myself. Everyone I trusted kept pushing Eden on me and I kept believing them. Reliability issues were one thing. Once I tried some other gear, I realized the tone was average too. Just my opinon but I went through 3 amps and 2 cabs. Still have a combo I use at rehearsal every blue moon. Average at best. There is much you can try and be happy with. Good luck finding some nice amplification

I am sorry to hear about your mess... I had a different problem with my WT 800C but vowed to NEVER buy another eden product since their CS is still TERRIBLE when i needed them most and when there is a problem in general. But they know we are watchingh them so they are putting on a good show it seems.
http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=299763&highlight=woes i am that irritating pebble in the proverbial eden shoe thats not going away.

There is a guy on the Eden forum that currently has a similar problem that you have..WT800 blowing up that is... except his keeps blowing up after he gets it back from repair [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

Since i made such a big stink about my Eden CS issues they sort of hate me over there.. But you know these things need to made present to potential buyers. And it still would not have been resolved if i did not make a stink. .they would still be giving me the old "two more weeks" line like they are doing to folks. There was a thread over there about a poor guy that had a VT300 problem for almost a year.. after that time and a bad dusty vt300 that they sent tohim.. they finally got him a wt800.. that tread went on for 27 pages.. and it got so bad they deleted it recently. that s just an FYI.

And yes your service center is correct that they dont tell them the truth.. I confirmed it with two other highly reputable service centers in my area.
They now delete any post that i make unless it is me praising them , which im not going to do since they did not earn that praise...
In a way im glad becasuse i type terribly anyway... Im a bass player not a typist.
I just wish they would block my IP so it would not be so tempting to say something when i see another person getting burned over there...

I wish you all the best in getting your amp repiared quikly..

There are a few other former eden users on this site that have made the switch to Genz Benz and they seem to be much happier. Myself included.
I have done the rack thing that you are looking at doing in the past.. If that is the way you go, I am sure you will have much better success that with you previous eden choice..

Anyone want to buy one of the last 800B's? I'm done with them - selling it immediately and getting an Avalon pre and a Crown power amp till I can afford 2 IP cabs.

HI

Yea. May I suggest a Demeter pre and a QSC plx? Nice and light if you want to go rack. Other than that u can try Epifani, EA, Thunderfunk, etc, etc, etc. Tons of great gear out there with people who will kiss your behind if you have a problem.

They hate me, too, after my year long nightmare with the 1205 piece of crap.

Oh, yeah, and an interesting side note, the tech when he bench tested it said it is putting out a little under 200 watts into 8 ohms - Eden claims 300 into 8.

your nnot the first person to say that.. infact one of the eden hi profile guys that is not in this site had the same issues with the 1205.. I cannot mention his name since i heard through a second party. and I promised. but that 1205 was and still is a nightmare from what i hear... iam just suprized they have not deleted your posts yet..

The best excuse that i got from eden on my Hissy , noisy, thumping , ground hum Gain knob was that the go to guy there blamed it on UPS shipping...
If the amp blows up when you take it out of the box, blame it on UPS... wish i could get away with that...
best of luck

I have read about reliability problems with Eden, but only the higher power stuff. I own a WT550, and I don't think I have read ANYTHING bad about these. Sound great and very reliable.

I have also read both good and bad about their CS.

Bummer about your 800.

I WAS the first person to say it - check the Eden forum.

They originally said I was crazy, didn't know how to set a gain control, or doing something wrong, then the other complaints started rolling in...

Screw them.

I've owned a WT-300 for over ten years without a single glitch. I also owned a WT-800 for over 5 years, no problems. I sold the WT-800 to buy a WT-800B a couple years ago. No issues whatsoever with the WT-800B.

In all sincerity, Guys we have NO IDEA why this 800B blew. I have owned a WT 300, A WT 550 with zero problems. The WT 800B that bassflute was referring to is a tour proven amp with a very good reliability record. I REALIZE that the new 800c's and 1205 have issues. But I do believe that these issues are separate from the OP's post in which he dealt with a service center and got an out of warranty repair done. Bassflute ASSUMED he would have had a terrible experience with the warranty department again and thats very possible, but the fact is he DIDN'T deal with them. I am wondering Bassflute, did you contact the service dept. at Eden and explain your amp was one week out of warranty? I would be interested to know how they would have responded. But this Eden deal is getting a bit like the Accugrove Switch thing. Let's not turn every thread into a bash Eden fest. They have made some GREAT bass amps in their history.

Hmm, I have to agree with some other people in this thread I use a WT550 and am proud to say I use it. I have never had any problems using it. However I would not upgrade it to a 800 or 1205 based on the stories here. And I would be very cautious before buying any new Eden gear.

TS, I hope you sort out whatever issues your amp has.

I recently settled a dispute with US Music regarding the upgrade of my WT-330. It took nearly six months to resolve and involved me having to sue them so they would call me back.

I will not say I was lied to, but I was continuously provided with information that was not factual from Eden/US Music Corp's Customer Service. I loved my WT-330 and never had a problem with it.

However, the experience with getting an upgrade did not leave me with any confidence in the company. I received a RA number and sent the item in for an upgrade to the WT-405 specifications on September 6, 2006 for an 8-week turnaround. I understand that 8-weeks is an estimate.

I call on December 15, 2006 to get an update of the status. I am told the technicians are backed up, but my amp is "on the bench" and will be done with the next batch, which should not be more than a couple of weeks.

I call on January 3, and I am told by customer service that the upgrade I have received a RA for has not been offered since the beginning of August 2006. They say they will call me back.

I call on January 4, and I am told they are still researching the issue and they will call me back the same day.

This goes on for about a week. After calling daily and leaving message, I did not receive a call back. I filed in New Jersey Civil - Special (Small) Claims Court. After I filed the suit, I received my original WT-330 unexpectedly, with a note that only said "No Upgrade Done At This Time".

I finally received a call back after US Music Corp. was served with my suit.

We settled to the satisfaction of both parties.

I had problems with a navigator that was not properly grounded took almost 2 months to get back

I ordered a 1-15 xlt when it came in when I played an E then a low b the speaker fell out and hit the grill IT WAS NOT EVEN SCREWED IN !!!

I also had a problem similar with a 4x10 xlt

I have stayed away ever since plus the CS was very bad luckily the shop I bought it from has great CS and fixed every thing even thou Eden did not
