Eden WT800C amp woes!! Anyone else having Problems?

I hope the speed of my service wasn't just because I bitched to Lane and on the Eden forum. I hope it's because they are getting things turned around.
Actually, it very well could be, but if that's what's necessary until they get their infrastructure figured out, then I'm sure it's fine.

In fact, while I was at NAMM talking to Lane, he even suggested that, if anyone is having this kind of problem, they should get him involved before they start (what could be viewed as) a "flame" thread. He made it sound like, as long as they're having these problems, he can't really object to folks asking him to step in and push things through. He'd much rather be given the opportunity to help as opposed to defend an attack. I thought this was a real good way to approach things.

I was really pretty upset and concerned before I spoke with him and Dave... now, I'm left at least hopeful. Let's do this, and give them the opps to live up to their intentions.

This could jsut be coincidental BUT I just got an email from Eden's Artist Rep. (my rep) announcing his departure from Eden. He said it was for a better position at another (unrelated) company but I gotta wonder you know?

Things are not well at Eden these days.

I thought I should update my own situation. I got my 550 back today. The turn around wa 3 weeks including shipping time from my door to theirs and back. I don't know if it works yet as I sent my power cord along with it when I sent it in but one didn't come back with the head. Oh well. I'll get one tomorrow as they are your basic power cord.

I'll report back again when I see if it works. The work order says they replaced a bad pot. Many thought it was a tube issue. Again, we'll see tomorrow.

I hope the speed of my service wasn't just because I bitched to Lane and on the Eden forum. I hope it's because they are getting things turned around.
I didn't get my power cable or footswitch back either.

Im still waiting for someone from eden to return my call after NAMM..Are they going to give me money back or get me a new amp. Lots of promises but thays it.

Man I really admire your patience.

I had a similar issue as yours about one year ago when my brand new Ashdown ABM500 was distorting in the low register. I brought it back to the store, as they didn't had any other unit they offered to repair it. It was the same when I got it back, so I contacted Ashdown UK directly.

After a few questions to locate the problem, we agreed that something was wong with my head. The distributor sent me a replacement, which was doing the same thing.

At this point I wrote to ashdown that I was done with them and just wanted my money as I cannot worry about my amp going bad on a gig. Then Martin at Ashdown begged me to give him a last chance and that if needed he'd take the plane to bring me a working unit, but he would get me a reliable unit no matter what it takes.

He got me an amp at the shop and gave it to his tech for 24 hours of testing. He then shipped me the head "next day". So 48 hours after the problem I had a fully working amp directly to my door (UK to Canada). Skip the store and distributor and work directly with the customer. He even gave me his carrier account # so I could ship my non-working unit back to him for inspection.

Now, I don't want to derail the thread...

Ashdown may not be a model of reliability (based on what I read here) but at least when you have a problem you are taken care of. That's the way your issue should have been handled, IMO. Problems happens, but not being taken care of when you have a problem is not acceptable in my book. I interpret it as a disrecpect to the customer who's in fact the only person why you are in business.

Again, I admire your patience and I sincerely hope it will resolve in a positive manner.

Now thats a story of how to handle a situation.. I like to hear that ... I have an Ashdown abm500 combo... that head sounds great too..
I am sure eden will get their act together.. but i have read here and other places that they are having many problems in the manufaturing process.. so it seems.. I think they may be trying to turn out too many new pieces without enough time to beta test.... i dont know..
like i said i love the eden sound..
but the actual rudenss of their employee towards me at NAMM was the most un pro encounter i have had in years.. I refused to engage him at that level...

So i am waiting for a response.. I called them the day after NAMM... lets see if they feel it is important enough to return my call. I still dont know what they expect me to do.. I alerted them that after the second repair it is even worse than the first 2 times..so i have noisy amp...where the original problem was changed from not working to now working but with lots of hiss and static...and no tuner out...
and they have my money but do not respond to email or phone messages..
I am very tolerant, and will contiue to be so..
thank you all for listening.. this forum is allowing me to vent and keep off the blood preasure meds..hahha

Eden just lost another customer. I bought a SWR Redhead about 8 years ago and after hearing a Eden, wished that I had bought the Eden 2X10 combo. I am about to upgrade my gigging rig and wanted a Eden. I have a Peavey Firebass that had to go to the shop due to a hiss. Tech looked it over, fixed the problem, and didn't charge me a thing. That is how CS should work. Great thing about Talkbass. It is easy to find out the pro's and con's. Too bad about Eden, mabe I should go with a Thunderfunk or another Peavey.

So, they want a warning before someone just tells the world what's happened? If there is an "attack" it's from a hi-end (at least price-wise) company to its customers, not by some guy who is forced to take this public to get some attention and get his problem fixed, not to mention warn others. And why should he take care of the problems that come to his attention and not all problems? From what I understand, there are unbearable delays for everyone, not just a few. So, if you don't post at forums you're supposed to wait like everyone else while your amp is getting fixed (or not!), but if you are thinking of posting it you should give him a chance to fix the problems at least for you, so that his company is not bad-mouthed? If they don't want to be bad-mouthed, they should act like a pro company. Everyone is giving them enough warning when they send their amps in, after that it's their responsibility to fix it, fix it well, and in a reasonable timeframe.

PS: Eden still advertises here, I see their banner about their amps' "Reliability" among other features right now.

Huge +1.

It's like yeah we know we're screwing up right about now, with you and lots of other people, but just don't tell anyone about it, ok, because then we'll say you're bad-mouthing us and get you in trouble... :scowl: :scowl:

I think you misread me, or I didn't do a good enough job of saying what I meant to. I wasn't suggesting (and I don't think they were suggesting) something like a gag order... at least not in conversations I had. I took it as if you were someone with a brand new problem, give Lane a chance to react if CS isn't doing it for you before you do the thread thing.

NOTE: That does not apply here, which is what I probably should have added. IMHO, in this thread, Eden has been given more than a fair chance to react, several times, and has failed, so I don't fault this thread or the author one bit.

FYI.

Do NOT get me wrong. I'm not trying to advocate the practices that led to this thread or any other similar ones!!!!

I've been in CS for over 15 years, so I know when it sucks, and Eden's CS currently sucks... BIG TIME. I'm just trying to be fair, and give them a chance to back up their claims made a few days ago. That's all.

I just tried to go to the Eden forum to heck on the update status of my situation.. if any was left by Lane.
At this time the entire forum has been taken down.....mmmmm
there has been alot of people talking about their 1205 gain problem.. 3 x on the mod for that.. and now the 800c problem...with no end in sight.
I think I have graduated to their Real Bad Person status...
Ooppssss.
For the record, I will maintain that their amps sound great.. for me that is... but it is the CS/Tech issues that are the problem..

Yeah, I see your point, what I mean is that I haven't seen (or can't remember) one person in the last several weeks showing up and saying "your situation sucks, but I had a problem and they took care of me". That is, they're not just cases here and there, it seems to be their whole CS dept! So, there's no logic in individuals contacting Lane before posting their experience - if Eden doesn't want the bad press, they should just take care of every customer that has a problem. Or Lane should go and handle CS on his own. I know this can't be done, but until they fix their problems, which they admit (or so it seems to me) they have, they can't avoid the bad talk. Did they ever complain about the "Eden CS rocks!" comments that were all over the place in the past? No. If they want good publicity, they'd better start taking care of their customers again. The way how is not anyone else's problem, it's their job. Being called a "flamer" and "bad-mouther" because you share your honest experiences with other people, warning them so that they don't go through the same, is ridiculous. Again, if they want good publicity, they should work towards that goal. You're giving them a chance to make things right when you call their CS - you shouldn't need to contact anyone else. They benefited from all the good stories about their CS all these years, now that they are screwing their customers they should shut up and swallow it until they offer good service again. IMHO.

+1, and believe it or not, I think this is what he's offering to do until the situation is fixed.

I know this can't be done,
I'm hoping it can... FWIW, anyway.

If they want good publicity, they'd better start taking care of their customers again.
+1 Of course.

You're giving them a chance to make things right when you call their CS - you shouldn't need to contact anyone else.
True. But on the other hand, if they're forthcoming enough to admit to the problem and offer an avenue to work around it while they resolve it, I'm of the mind to accept that offer... assuming it works as advertised, anyway, which is also understandably under scrutiny here.

I visit the Eden forum regularly. Forum outages such as the current one, while not frequent, are also not uncommon. There was nothing going on in terms of Eden bashing when the forum went down yesterday afternoon, so I doubt someone intentionally took it offline. Just coincidence I think. It really sucks that all this started going on during NAMM, which makes dealing with the problem harder. Then again, perhaps having to stand in front of people at NAMM while everyone knows things aren't right was good. The problem though, is that it was Eden that had to stand in front of people, not USM.

Like others have said, Eden didn't build such a respectable, solid reputation for nothing. They've been doing this for 30 years, and are known for great products, fantastic tone, and quick service. Hopefully they'll restore that faith in others. As an Eden owner, I hope this is true, because for me, nothing else sounds as good as an Eden.

+1!!!!!

Not that it totally absolves them from a responsibility to deal with it, but yeah, USM is BY FAR the primary core of the problem. :(

I'm also an Eden tone/product lover, so I also hope these things get resolved (as you can surely tell from my generally supportive posts).

I also agree the forum outage doesn't necessarily indicate anything, otherwise it woulda' got taken down LONG ago due to phish-gate (long story/thread, just trust me on it).

well thats good... i do not want to be know as an eden basher at all... just a concerned buyer that feels its important to have not only praise posted, but non praise too....
sort of like the ebay feedback system.
