Eden WTDI Direct Box/Preamp

i play everything from ambient to death metal, i play a warwick thumb bass 6 nt and its way to powerful for the wtdi. i put all settings on flat and i can only turn my gain up about 2% without it crapping out on me. im definitely sure its not my pedal too cause i brought it to gc and tried a music man through it and it sound fine. my bass is too hot for it. i shouldve never traded my rbi for it. oh well so goes the never ending quest for tone

Thanks for the input! I have a super hot Warwick 2004 LTD FNA Jazzman... I don't have plans on using that bass with this pedal, but I am planning on using it with my active Carvin. In all honesty, I am hoping it will liven up the Carvin a bit. I really like the bass, but it sounds so dull compared to my Wick. The Carvin is in the same shop I bought the pedal from getting a setup, so I couldn't try it with the intended bass. I did play a Ric and a Fender Jazz with it, and I was impressed. I was sold on it after playing with it for about 5 minutes... I'll have to see how it sounds with my rig.

If I don't get the sounds I am looking for with this pedal, I have a month to trade it back for store credit, so no loss to me... They get my money all the time anyway :)

There's a demo video of the WTDI posted on YouTube..
*check it out- a little after the 1:30 second mark -

I highly recommend checking it out before buying this.
I was planning on purchasing a WTDI before seeing how harsh the breaking up can be.
I LOVE the tone of the Eden WT series of amplifiers (never should have sold my WT400) but it seems this pedal can get really nasty when it's pushed too hard.

I wouldn't worry about that break up dude. It's the input of the recorder he's over-driving. It's not the pedal.

I have seen that video before... and in all fairness to the pedal, I was not able to replicate that crappy sound the video has. I tried to make it sound bad! I wanted a reason not to want it. I am very picky about my gear. The only thing I really don't like is that bright light and that the status light goes off when engaged. Well see how it does in a band setting with my gear.

That's actually kinda comforting to know! I've always liked Eden's gear.. perhaps if one pops up in the cheap somewhere I'll go ahead and give it the go I've been wanting to..

My entire rig is Eden. I am saving up for a WT head right now, but my ENX260 head is fine for right now. I am playing through a EDEN D410XLT cab.

I would jump on one. The website I linked to has them in stock.

Just finished my review on mine. Biggest letdown for me was not being able to get a cool breakup tone. I did post some clips with a P and a Jazz bass

Once again, I have this pedal laying around, let me know if you have any questions about it.

Sure, anything from an Ampeg SVT grit to a Jack Bruce or EH Big Muff sound. Basically I want it known that you aren't getting a usable distortion or overdrive out of it.

It wasn't meant to do that, but maybe there are a few guys out there hoping it would.

Thanks for the review and clips! Can you define "cool breakup tone"?
Thanks.

I just picked up a used one for $99 at GC. It's got a great sound, but also encountered the issue with the gain being a bit too much. I bought it for the purpose of recording through my Tascam GT-R1. What I had to do was mess with the input setting on the Tascam device. Not being able to turn the gain (on the WTDI) higher than 9 o'clock doesn't really bother me though.
