Eden WTDI Direct Box/Preamp

Have had one for about a month. Really like it. Was using a sansamp di, but this one has a better low end puch in my opinion. Compressor is very simple, but effective. I keep it at about the 25% level which seems about right. I'm using a Warwick active corvette and a Ric 4003 and they both sound like f**cking beasts through it. My primary rig is a Carvin B1500 through 2 Avatar 410's. It really adds a nice low end extension. Cuts right through the Marshall stacks and mic'd drummer with ease.

I haven't had any high pitched squeals with mine. I use the power ISO 5 and it works like a charm. I used the original wall wart for a while and it worked fine too.

I love mine and use it 2-3 times a week in a live setting, running direct from the WTDI to the mixer. I play at many different places, all with different live rigs and this thing sounds great on all of them.

The only issue with my setup is that I have zero play with my gain. I play a Spector euro 5 and I have the gain at around 5-10%. Anything past that and I get major clipping. I guess the signal from my bass is extremely hot.

i just got one of these today (traded my sansamp) i like the sound but i cant push the gain at all without MAJOR distortion. im playing a 6 sting nt thumb and its got way to much balls. is anyone elses overdriving on them with the turn the gain up slightly?

so whats the deal with unwanted distortion WTDI? I have Stingray 2band eq, currently play mostly with pick and I really like to push it on harder attack side...so I presume that WTDI could be easily distorted in my signal chain. Does anybody push hard his bass (optimally Sray) and using WTDI without unwated distrotion and keeping gain near to zero??
Somebody has mention that distrortion comes from compressor, is this true? If so then I could turn down compressor and play as hard as possible? Or distrotion is problem of input sensitivity of whole preamp?
Thanks
Iam really sold fot this pre (I miss eden sound...)but I need to konw if it is usable for my playing style and bass.
Secon option is Hartke VXL but...ehm its Hartke and I you know How its with Hartke reputation ;)
Price is not question WTDI is in EU about170USD (which is IMHO very cheap - MXR M80 for 240 or BDDI 300-340USD is standard EU pricing :-/) , Hartke goes for 134USD.

So as you can see WTDI shouts to be bought...

I have Eden WTDI. I use it mainly with Hagstrom HB-4 bass. The combination is very good, the sound is big, round and clean with heavy bass response. I use mostly the same settings all the time: bass, mid, treble - all 12 o'clock, gain ~25%, compressor ~25%, enhance 10-11 o'clock. I think it sounds the best this way. Sometimes I push "too much bass" button which makes the sound extremely huge and heavy but it looses definition a bit this way, this button is good for slow heavy parts like dub etc. Sometimes I roll off some treble depending on the cab. I like clean sound most of all (gain around 9 O'clock) or very slightly driven, if i try to push it more the sound becomes too rough and looses sweetness (to my taste).

Most of the time I run it into effect return of Marshall head into 8x10" cab (sounds amazing) or into the effect return of Behringer combo with 1x15" which is better then Behringer itself, but sounds a bit more quiet then Behringer for some reason. With Behringer I decrease Enhance to 8 o'clock, it's a bit too boomy with 1x15".

Another nice feature is additional output for PA console, so you can run this device both to the amp on stage and to PA simultaneously. Or I guess it's ok just to run it directly to PA on stage without any amp - light version for club gigs, when you do not need to carry heavy amp with you.

Overall, WTDI is a nice device, I like it.

i used it to record with garage band. for me it was easier finding a good tone to work with on the wtdi, then mixing one. still has a gnarly gain problem. to be honest i give it a 4 outta 10.
