Effect Junkies - Post your rig!!

I just got this unit - can't wait to rig up the flightcase floorboard - will be MEGA!!!

Specs on the unit can be found on the company's website. The unit was recommended to me by Paul Turner of Jamiroquai.

I'll be able to use my vintage Mu-Tron in there now without fearing it'll be bashed around in transit - yippee!! Incidentally, the Mu-tron has been fitted with two of the GigRig's Virtual Batteries, so now runs off a standard 9v power supply with no modification to the original effect unit - great! (especially as my Mu-tron is in such great condition

Great rebuttal nad, I understand your reasoning for not using an Ampeg when a better rig was at your disposal. All I was saying was that Ampeg didn't deserve the bashing it was getting in this thread because they do make nice, solid and good sounding (if you find the right one) equipment.

here's my rig.

though, it should be noted that it is always under construction.
coming changes?

DD-3 switches out with a DL-4
OC-2 switches out with a microPog
DOD fuzz switches with a pro-co rat.
and there's still plenty of room in my board to grow. (i do love me some effects and i've still got a lot of room for them)
plus i still have to get a pedal controller for my boss micro-rack.
any suggestions on a better flanger? i'm trying to ... get away from boss so much. (starting out they were cheap... and easy... like some people i know... i mean... uh...)

so much yet to do with it.

plus, not pictured : one black SR-506 (in the shop) and (because our van is busted and there's not room) the rest of my rack.

Is the backline 600 new? cuz i don't see it listed in your profile. And how you like it?

i just got it .. this is only second gig with it.
need to get ears for it first... (my drummer is going to make some at work actually... once he takes some measurements)
i do need to add it to the list.

i like it.
i've played on three different heads in the last year and this, by far, is the best one (yet anyways... perhaps if i could magically get my hands on a hybrid... but... that's farther down the road monetarily for me)
i haven't had much of a chance to play with the settings yet and am still getting used to it.
i should have all the kinks worked out (my only complaint thus-far is ... my treble still feels a bit muffled, but... trying to fix that on stage... doesn't work so much, i just prefer quite a decent amount of highs, which could probably be cleared up with an EQ... )

[spunj13]

nope...i have a guitarist (only one) who is fond of turning up as high as his head will go.
and i'm still only at just past half... i think about 2 o'clock?

incidentally, that peavey cab is number 4 (of 4) that belonged to some bassist that played with Ted Nugent, though i don't know which one (it has the nugent logo and the number 4 on the back... i picked it up used for a steal)

Here is mine (not a rig of Doom, but enough for my needs) :

the stack : Ashdown ABM 300 evoII + Ampeg 15' ... small size, light weight, good tone :

I still plan to upgrade it. Of course I'll add a lot of new pedals (I'll probably need a second pedalboard), and I'll also add another 15' for the shows whan I have to struggle against guitarists with Mesa-Boogie heads + 4x12' :D

Please note that I said nothing damning toward Ampeg until someone told me, in a confrontational tone mind you, that I was doing something WRONG by actually using my own gear, that I happen to love, instead of the solid state Ampeg rig that graced the particular stage my person stood upon. Especially since the other three bassists who did use that rig that evening couldn't get a good tone no matter how much between song tweaking they embarked upon.

I don't like Ampegs, and I've played through a bunch of them. I stated my opinion about an overall brand only when prompted, I didn't trash someone else's rig. Others feel differently about The Big A. Good for them. Good for me that other gear exists out there.

EDIT: Why am justifying my irrational hatred of a stupid brand? To anyone who hates my Ampeg-hating, take comfort in the fact that my penis is smaller than yours, and we can move on.

I love the sound of my Ampeg SVT rig simply because it sounds good to my ears. It just so happens that many people feel the same way. For me, the sound of an all-tube amp working up a sweat makes me grin like a kid after his first roll in the hay.

That said, if someone else (like yourself, nad) gets great aural pleasure from something other than Ampeg, so be it. Who am I to tell you that you're wrong? Maybe I'm missing something.

Enough of that. Here we go...

It looks as though by "Effect Junkies - Post your rig!!" you meant "Post you bass area!!", I can do that. (and if you didn't, you do now!)

ESPECIALLY the crap that comes out of their mouths when I tell them I have a Carvin. Like I despise tone or something....
*

I know what you mean, I play through a Carvin R1000 and people always ask, Carvin? I tell them hell yeah Carvin! They have a sweet clean tone, and the amps are so easy to dial in the tones you're looking for, I love the pre-shape filters and the EQ, most everything else I leave flat or slightly adjusted. And it's perfect for effects.
