EHX Grand Canyon - Holy &*^%$&!

True, it isn't pretty compared to the Canyon's reductive and uncluttered visual design.
But EHX doesn't do "pretty". Some of their designs seem like classics by now. Yet that's only because they are part of the pantheon of classic pedals after all these years. Otherwise, offhand, I can't think of any pretty EHX pedals. EHX does functional rather.
To their credit, though they are trying to expand their design language, EHX has in the end its own aesthetic of non-aesthetic visual design.

Don't own the EHX Canyon my self, but love the sound of it on the demos I have watched, as well as all the options it is packed with, now with even more options, easier accessible secondary parameters and a proper amount of loop time, actually making it worthwhile as a regular main looper pedal.
Possibility for connecting and expression pedal and being able to chose which parameter it controls is a big plus as well.
Does anyone know if it can also be assigned to control secondary parameters?
I have planed to get one at some point from I saw the first demos of it when it was almost just released, but now it seems like I really ought to pull myself together and safe up for the new, bigger and better one.

Also I think it looks amazing!
I actually think the unaligned miss matched knobs make it look charming and more interesting, like the control panel of a classic sci-fi series space ship, or some crazy professor's new wacked Phase Converting Antimatter Transmorphing Auto Superlative Super Gizmorizer device.
I much prefer this to a sterile, soulless streamlined design.
To each their own I guess.
But I love it!
And haven't even tried one yet.

This looks perfectly symmetrical to me with even foot-switches and 2 rows of 4 knobs and 4 buttons then a grid to align the smaller right side. The 5/8th to 3/8th ratio (or so) is good modern design. It helps to have 2 different looking areas of functionality so that you can keep track of the difference... Otherwise a bank of identical dials etc would be harder to learn. (my late father in law worked at Bell Labs and designed interfaces we all use today. Simplicity is good, but monotony isn't helpful to learning systems)
What I don't get is delay-loopers. A delay chorus or shimmer is part of your sound, then you might loop it. That's 2 pedals independently. I assume this is another either or pedal. also, The Canyon delay isn't as smooth as a Memoryman, the reverse delay has attack artifacts not found on the earlier pedal. But EH are developing quite a pallet of delay based tamper (tone) and pitch change effects starting with the Pog and evolving into first the ravish and then the 9 series and now on these.

Yes - you can assign any knob or multiple to the expression pedal, including the mini knobs on the right side. You just can't control the Delay Type knob (the black one with no pointer), since that's actually an encoder that selects your delay type.
You can also set custom ranges & directions for any knobs that you assign, which is pretty fun. Like if you're using Echo, you can set the heel to a medium delay time w/ no bitcrush, and set the toe to a higher delay time, with a moderate amount of bitcrush, a little high-pass filter, and a little lower Delay Level. There are a ton of possibilities!
How do you set the expression pedal parameters? Is there a separate editor interface or is it all through the pedal?
The Grand Canyon is grand indeed, huge selection of sounds and FX.
Not exactly a bass FX pedal but the best Guitar FX pedal I've encountered so far.

You'll be able to read the full procedure soon once we get the manual online. But there's no separate computer editor or anything, it's just a couple presses of the "EXP MODE" button to create the setting.
A question concerning sound quality. I noticed some time after delivery of the EHX Grand Canyon that the sound quality (clarity and presence of the delay signal) detoriated, or may be I didn't notice right at the beginning. Is it possible that the sound gets "moldy" over time? Its a digital device, I know, still?
