I would say Yes easy with a good inverter wired directly to batteries. I could power my band off my RV lithium batteries, inverter and solar panels...not that I would.

right time frame, wrong author.Richard Brautigan? wild guess
Whatever. You really don't get it. Burning fossil fuels will get us all killed. And no, electric is far cheaper.
Where are you playing that needs batteries like that?So how long can an electric car power a 5 piece band?
Sources? That Prius story has been debunked and is based out dated supply lines and technology. Sure mining is dirty and China owns the bulk of the metals we need for these new technologies, but the idea that we should just keep doing what we've been doing is lame. Your post is harmful despite your throwaway statement that you are pro-green.

Some guy from Nantucket? There was a technician named Slattery
Who ****** with the course-gyro battery
With the thousand volt shock
what was left of his ****
was all slimy and sloppy and spattery.
Extra credit if you can name the source.
Anywhere that needs phenomenal bass to be heard!Where are you playing that needs batteries like that?
Oh, yeah? You lookin at me? You lookin at me?Know what? This doesn't have to be at all contentious. His joke was get a generator. A generator is cheaper than an EV. It was a joke.
We may or may not succeed at saving our species. Some one pointing out that my EV has a flat tire isn't my enemy or a climate change denier. We are in this together. In a good corporation you hire people to point out what is amiss or what could go wrong. You have someone alert you that this policy could have this effect on the environment, or the employees or the end users etc.
There doesn't seem to be any Nantucket connection for the author concerned, from my quick Wikipedia look. Keep tryin'.Some guy from Nantucket?

I'm trying to help you. So you're thinking about taking an electric car into a small club to run your phenomenal bass rig. You're going to run a festival stage on car batteries and show everyone how phenomenal your bass is. Good luck with it. Your humility will put you up there with the best. I'll come and see you when you're phenomenal enough.Anywhere that needs phenomenal bass to be heard!
That’s a great article but doesn’t really discuss the points you made. Which are valid, but they also echo the arguments of everyone that just wants to "drill baby drill" and deny the realities of antropogenic climate change. Your post might have read differently if you had started by stating you are pro-green, rather than tacking it on at the end. I think you meant to remind us that none these technologies by themselves solves the problem when the problem is our willingness to destroy entire ecosystems to satisfy our wants. You are okay with those people poisoning the ground water?

I'm sure as the costs come down independents will and are charging less. Just Googled Honda and Prius hybrid battery price is way down around $950 for the parts. So your price point is proven.
Cradle to grave was not debunked.
I'm not saying keep doing what we are doing. I'm saying as we adopt new tech we should look at the possible consequences. Only thing that's harmful is not doing our own research. What's counter productive is calling a request to look around us harmful.
Where are the promises that the Electric companies will generate cleanly?

So transportation is 29% electricity is 25%. Electrical consumption won't increase with the change from gas to EVs?
You are correct. The technologies themselves won't solve anything. However poking holes in peoples attempts to find more eco friendly transportation solutions is a trued and true tactic of climate change deniers. The problem is there are a lot of bogus "green" technologies being pushed, combined with the attitude that anyone who says anything negative is a climate change denier. There's no point replacing one destructive technology with another. And that Land Rover / Prius story - debunked or not - highlights that the underlying problem is commuting and the amount of travel people indulge in. And underlying that is the insoluble issue of ever-increasing population.
