Electric car as power source?

Easy enough to figure, in theory...

Time = Output/Draw

Assuming 10kWh for the car, and a 7.5kWh draw, you could power the band for 10/7.5, or 1.333..., hours.

I have no idea how much output an e-auto has, or how much your 5 Man Electrical Band draws. I pulled the above numbers out of my butt for easy math.

EDIT: This would also empty the e-auto, and you'd have to recharge. I see no benefit to this.

If you have to convert everything to 110v AC and back, it's going to suck pretty badly (inefficient). I don't know the available DC power output for my Tesla Model 3, I'll look it up though. My bet is that it'll last way longer than you might suspect. Less so for other brands (imho).

I like your math, but 7.5kWh is a pretty big draw, given that most bands draw way below max load at most times. …just adding a perspective. For fun, I put a kWh meter on our quartet with normal gear and small PA for a 3-hour show last summer. Total = 3.71 kWh.

Valid point. You will have to figure that into the draw, it's not simply amp 1 + amp 2 + amp 3 +...

If you use solid state amps that can accept a 12VDC power source directly, you can save the "conversion fees."
 
Just did some reading - that's what I thought - looks like the 12v output system is 12 amps, which is fairly hefty for a cigarette lighter connecter - but the 12v output runs off the separate 12v battery, so you can't channel the car's big EV batteries to drive your band (easily at least).

Don't know if other makers are different. The Tesla Cybertruck has a built in AC inverter, not sure, but I suspect the power is off the mains, not a 12v subsystem. We'll find out next year (I hope I hope, my order's in).

Groovy! A 10kWh e-auto could power that band for 2.69 hours.

Now that we have an actual example of draw, we just need a IRL example for an e-auto.

Well, that's only 144W so I wouldn't count on that for much. Especially when you lose another 10% or more in the inverter.

I don't know this, but I'd expect the high voltage bus (480VDC maybe?) is extremely difficult to access - considering the damage that an EV's worth of Watt-hours at 480V could do to property and personnel.

Three questions need to be addressed to answer this question:

1) How loud do you want to play?
2) How long do your want to play?
3) (Assuming you want to drive home afterwards) - how far is the gig from your house?
