Electro-Harmonix Bass Big Muff

Anyone get to a/b the BBM in comparison to the Metaphors? Is the Metaphors' distortion on par with the BBM? Is my impression of the Metaphors is that it's distortion + eq + compression correct? What would be the advantage/disadvantage of having this all on the same pedal?
Advantage: One pedal, one power adaptor

Disadvantage: Total lack of control over any particual parameter.

Check out Bassfuzz.com's review of the Metaphors. It easily convinced me not to buy one.

Anyone get to a/b the BBM in comparison to the Metaphors? Yes

Is the Metaphors' distortion on par with the BBM? No, it was't muffish to my ear at all

Is my impression of the Metaphors is that it's distortion + eq + compression correct? It also features a DI, as a good friend called it, a poor man's sansamp

What would be the advantage/disadvantage of having this all on the same pedal? I'll let others speak here.

interesting. i like the sound of regular muffs on bass, so i wonder what they will change to make it "better".

i'll be interested to read reviews and hear clips of this and the blogger.

i agree... i have an old sovtek green one which sounds fantastic on bass... i hope they didnt mess this one up
also... why sustain? stupid question i know but gotta ask... why not distortion?

You mean the label of the Sustain knob?

It's called "Sustain" because it was originally marketed for its sustaining properties. EHX preferred to push the fact that you could let notes sing endlessly with the Sustain knob cranked. :)

Given that the label hasn't changed since the 1970s, why change it now? :D

Alright you bastards.....cover me, I'm going in.

I held out as long as I could, but I finally pulled the trigger.
BTW, the first pedal I've ever purchased off of Amazon (?!).

All of these glowing reviews fueled my GAS...pedal should be here after the holiday weekend. With any luck my LBM will be on da' Bay next week.
