Electro-Harmonix Bass Big Muff

I read through the thread didn't see this discussed anywhere, so forgive me if this has been covered...

Has anyone successfully powered one of these off of a 100mA output of a power supply( i.e. Pedal Power II, Burkey Six)? that is, you didn't have to use a 200mA output or daisychain 2 100mA outputs? The Website says it needs at least 100mA. This unfortunately will make or break this pedal for me.

Thanks!

Mine works fine on my PPII

Got one of these yesterday after reading the recent review in Bass Player. I used to have a NYC Big Muff and this thing blows it away! Much better bass response and it seems to have better transient attack than the guitar version. I wanted to see how this would work on its own, as I have my Bass PodXT hooked up to my Hammond organ right now (for distortion, phase shifting, and reverb effects). I like the fuzz emulation in the Bass Pod, but this pedal definitely has that more analog ambiance to it. Running this in front of my Morley Power Wah Boost pedal with the sustain knob all the way up pretty much nails Burton's Anesthesia tone. Definitely a keeper!:bassist:

I really like the BBM but whenever it is on I stop cutting through the mix, I have tried adjusting the effect volume with no results. Any suggestions?

I have no problems cutting through a thick mix (2 guitars, analog synth, loud drummer) using the dry mode.

The BMM really has it's own tone, so set up your bypassed tone to be very cutting, and you should have no problems cutting through.

Try these settings:

Volume: 1 o'clock
Tone : 1:30
Sustain: 1:00
Switch Setting: Dry

Everyone has their own thing, their own likes and dislikes.

That said out of the four bigmuffs I have right now I like the overall sound and clipping of the BBM the least. I like some of it's perks like the "blend" and that it has a low noise floor, but even with the bass boost on it doesn't have the lows of either the green or black russian muffs and it has less gain then any muff I have ever tried. Also to me the pedal sounds cheap and real lofi when it is in high gain settings. That said I really dig it for it's low gain lo-fi sounds it gets, it can really add some nice textures to your overall sound without taking it over like what most other muffs will do. But again I comeback to it's cheapness....

It is a cheap pedal, that is a fact; it is under a bill. And because of this the best components aren't being used. I would just forgive all that if I hadn't just got a black Russian and found that the Russian had managed to retain [at a lower price] all of it's muffess, all of it's thickness and depth and complex clipping sound, but then it also has the scooped thing to deal with.... and with out a clean blend or a mid control ect In practicality it loses to the BBM for a all around general use fuzz.
