Electro-Harmonix Bass Big Muff

I am sure I am not the only one who filled out their EHX feedback forms requesting more bass effects. I specifically asked for a muff voiced for bass several times. Betcha tons of bass players did too.

Its great to know that some companies really do give customers what they ask for. Too bad I like my new Bootzilla's fuzz circuit so much that I can't justfy the bass muff right now, although it does have that sustain knob. Nevertheless I think I'll wait on this one unless it blows people way with it how it sounds.

As far as the bass blogger is concerned the ehx website describes it as "the pefect subtle distortion". Hmmmm I dunno about everyone else but I have probably 5 pedals that can already pull that off quite well-Subtle distortion/grit is the realm of the sansamp and I dont think ehx is gonna topple that juggernaught anytime soon.

Do you think it would be realistically possible for TB to become an EHX dealer? It would be awesome - potentially the first step towards TB becoming the biggest and best specialist bass store on the interweb!

I like that thought, pedals and strings and accessories, would be awesome. Though, it demands someone who really wants to build something, an entrepreneur, and some cash I guess...

(Don't look at me, I have enough with my company and all other projects I run)

If TB became an EHX dealer, we would just have to buy the pedals at roughly the same price, but from TB instead of 'XXX' dealer.

TB can't just become a dealer in EHX and undercut all the other dealers. EHX would drop them like a sack of bricks. Its the same idea as them cracking down on the grey ebay sellers. If someone is hurting the other dealers business, they will stop it.

The other dealers and EHX wouldn't be too impressed to find hundreds of people getting discounts here and not giving the other people that work hard to sell their products a fair go. What would be in it for those guys?

Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of cheaper pedals as much as the next guy, but I think what im saying is probably realistic.

Imagine this setup, TB opens an online store, for the public, with general SRP on all items.

TB forum members, get 15% discount when purchasing more than unit item in the shop.

Well, you could sticker them all with TB stickers. We win by getting discounts, EHX wins by shipping of boatloads of pedals, and TB wins by getting publicity and ad/adsense income!

Sorry to be a party pooper, but EHX already ship boatloads of pedals and have no reason to see TB win with publicity and Adsense money. Also, again, its still hurting the business of the many other EHX dealers around the world. If I was a dealer of EHX and TB undercut me, I would be pissed.

Take BJF effects for example, you can talk to Bjorn directly by PMing him on another 'certain' effects type forum. You can ask him as many times as you like for a Blueberry, but he will tell you that you have to go through Custom Sounds as they are the distributor. Sure, he could go down to his basement and knock up a pedal for you, but he doesn't want to hurt his dealers business (and end up with hundreds of personal requests). Same as if I go to Sydney and knock on Mr MI Audio's door and try and buy an effect through his back door. Its not going to happen.

Any reputable company will / should protect their dealers who work hard to move their product. Selling below an authorised price isn't fair. EHX have already proven they don't like it by smacking the bums of dealers who undercut prices on Ebay.

Then again, im an engineer and don't really know a great deal about sales etc.. I just can't see it myself.

...Right. Moving on.

Here's an excerpt from an email I received about this very pedal:

"The Bass Big Muff is based on a really good sounding current production Russian Big Muff (we don't have any of the green ones unfortunately) with some changes to the Tone knob to make it sound better with bass. And then we added a switch to give a bass boost or mix in your dry signal or no change at all."
