ELEMENT - CabSim & Headphone Amp by Darkglass Electronics

Let me know if you try it. I was under the impression it was not allowed, that it would be like trying to run 2 instruments at once, which manual forbids. Have you already tried it?
The “forbidden” connection in the manual is both plugging an amp speaker jack into one 1/4” jack and an instrument in the other, which could be dangerous as the jacks are passively run in parallel so you could get shocked (it’d be like plugging an instrument into the speaker jack of the amp). You could definitely run two instruments in, but if they are both passive then they would load on each-other and the tone of both would suffer. Two active/buffered inputs like two lines of a pedalboard with active effects or two active basses should work fine.

nice that’s how I was thinking, running mono into an eq2 and having one signal going straight to an input on the element and the other going through my effects to the other input of the element

That sounds like it will work, just make sure to account for possible phase cancellation. There is a phase inversion toggle on the EQ2 in case you need it (for example, loss of low frequencies).

friends: I appeal to those who are users of the DK Element, I plan to use it for live monitoring, I understand that I can send my signal to the PA, through the xlr output, I ask can I connect a return signal from the PA For monitoring at the DK Element, for ear to the Headphones or IEM? Thanks

You might be able to use the 3.5mm aux input for this. The blend control will then let you blend between your bass and the aux, and the blended signal will only be heard from the headphone output.

Thanks Derek for your answer. I thing too. So. what do you thing about DG Element vs GK Plex to buy?
I had a brief look at the Plex previously, but it didn’t quite do what I want. I haven’t really gotten into using a DAW properly yet, and the Element lets me easily record my bass with the aux in audio on separate channels using it’s interface. Recording like this means I have no sync issues to worry about, and can quickly record a cover of a song when I want. The Plex of course has additional features that the Element doesn’t, like compression and overdrive, but I have plenty of other pedals for that.

Hey friends. I have potentially a silly question, but the terminology is confusing me. Can the Element be used as a DI box on a pedalboard without any other kind of preamp pedals? In other words, can it replace my Behringer sansamp clone?

I plan to go:
Bass -> Tuner -> Octave -> Distortion -> Chorus -> Element -> Mixer/FOH

Will that work or do I need other equipment or conditions?

Yes, it can do that. It won’t be able to reproduce the sansamp sound though.

Thanks. Is that simply because the Element library does not have a profile that simulates a Sansamp?
It has many options for cab sim, a decent graphic EQ, and 2 power amps to choose from (guitar and bass). It doesn’t offer any options for overdrive or distortion, or offer any preamp models. It does sound great for cleans though (or with any effects your input signal has).

I am having trouble with user loaded IR's.
When connected to Darkglass Suite on my Mac, I can load my user IR and it works fine, but if I go to another preset, the next time I come back to the preset where I loaded my IR, it says it can't be found/loaded. Same thing if I turn the Element off and then back on again, it will say user IR can't be loaded. The only way I can get my user IR to work is by loading it in the suite fresh and staying on that preset. I have even uploaded them to the DG Cloud.
Any ideas or insight loading user IR files?
Btw, my user IR files are Dr Bonkers Ampeg 810 48/24.
Thanks.

I think I solved this by making sure I uploaded the IR to the cloud.

I've a little problem that I don't understand and I'm hoping you could help me

I want to connect my Macbook to the Element via bluetooth, in order to to sound through headphones that are connected to the pedal. The Mac recognised the Element as a bluetooth device and pairs but the output still remains the notebook speakers and not the headphones.
I was able to do that until 2/3 months ago and then stopped working.
Has anyone else tried and succeeded or doesn't it work for you either?
