My new to me Aria Pro Avante series AVB 45-5 had some EMG's installed. i got it in a trade.

its wired Vol-Tone-Vol-Tone

i think im a convert! i love this tone. its warm enough for me but soooo clean and clear. really tight and focused to my ears.

Just switched pickups from the EMG DC40'S to the EMG J5's in my Spector along with the BTC system but it just don't have the same output and tone as my Hamer impact 5 with both basses being real similar weight, look, 18v, and body style wise....I AB'd the 2 of them and output wise, I lose a notch 2 or more, and the slapping tone is way down from the Hamer...Can anyway tell me if I am wasting time trying to get the Spector to sound like my Hamer...My sound man says the Hamer signal and all around tone is much stronger...I am at my wits end trying to make a 4000.00 bass sound like my 1994 Hamer Impact that I bought in 95 on an 2 % endorsement from a guy who owned a large Music Store in SC...it listed for around 3750.00 back then and they only made a select few of them.....My Hamer is Bubinga and The Spector is a water curd redwood...The Spector plays wonderful it just don't sound as good as it looks...Any thoughts would be appreciated...

just got another stingray 5 piezo and was thinking of trying a emg in this one but keep the EB preamp... thoughts???

I believe it's possible, however with out knowing the existing pot values right off hand, it may not. Ain't I full of confusion?

The volume is 25k, the other pots are 100k (50k from the 90's on)
